Hi I live right downtown at 12th and chester. i am looking for a decent (and safe) track to run on. Cleveland State doesn't seem to have one. I drove by St Ignatius high school and they have a nice track but does not appear to be open to the public. Any suggestions without me having to drive to far? thanks

The YMCA has an indoor track, but you would need to join.

I believe there is one on the Tri-C Metro Campus downtown

I looked on Google Earth, and there is one along Community College Drive, just east of E. 30th.

Also, you could run around the perimeters of Malls B or C.  That would be about the same distance as a running track.  Or, you could run laps around the interior grass field of Mall B.  It would be shorter, but might be a bit more "track-like".

I'm guessing the OP is looking for a track due to the softer surface than the pavement, which is killer awful.

I think the Ignatius track is open to the public when there isn't a school event going on. At least that was the case when I was there. If the entrance on Lorain is locked, there's an entrance off Carroll ave which is 1 block north of Lorain.

Correct, the St. Ignatius track is open to the public when not being used by the school.  The entrance is at the end of Carroll Ave. and there is a sign there saying that the neighborhood is welcome to use the track.

hmm is there a st Ignatius neat westside market? that one said no trespassing...

Take Bridge to W 30th and head east on Carroll Ave. until it ends.  There should be an entrance and a sign there stating that the track is open to the neighborhood.  Maybe they have changed this policy recently, I am not sure, but last I knew it was open to the public.

There's no indoor track at that brand new rec center at CSU?  That's were I was planning on going when I move downtown.

Edit: I just read there is a 1/7 mile indoor track there.  That's were I would go when the weather gets bad.  If it's nice, I'm looking forward to finding a route I like around downtown.

I've run on the Ignatius track quite a few times during the morning. As long as the school is not using it, it is open to the public. You do have to enter it from Carroll Ave.
