Posted May 5, 200916 yr I didn't know how full of transplants Columbus was until I began working. It seems that very few people I have worked with in town are actually from here. It seems that people from the Columbus area leave after they finish school, while people who live in Columbus now came here for work or school. How many natives do we have here. BTW, I grew up in Groveport and have lived in Ashville, Lancaster, Portsmouth, Huntington WV, Washington DC and Cincinnati. I now live in Bexley (no, not the wealthy part).
May 5, 200916 yr Born and raised in Columbus. Went to school in Raleigh, NC but moved back after graduation. What can I say, there is no place like home!
May 5, 200916 yr I've noticed that a lot of Columbus natives leave after school but come back when it's time to raise a family. Outsiders, like me, fill the vacuum. That said, I'd love to return to Detroit with my family, but that's a practical impossibility at this point, so chain restaurants and OSU football it is.
May 5, 200916 yr Born and raised in Upper Arlington. Moved into the city limits during my tenure at OSU. Now residing in Westerville and anxious to move closer to downtown (Columbus, that is).
May 5, 200916 yr James Thurber is supposed to have said long ago that Columbus was 250,000 people who came to the State Fair and decided to stay. Now I'd call it 750,000 people who came to OSU and decided to stay.
May 6, 200916 yr I've lived in Central Ohio since I was 4 years old. Does it still count as being a "transplant" when you have few early childhood memories of life outside of Ohio? ;)
May 6, 200916 yr I was born in Newark and went to Granville schools till I was 12. Then we moved away, and since then I've lived in or near Columbus on a couple different occasions. Who knows... I may soon be going back.

May 6, 200916 yr I moved to Columbus from DC when I was 11 years old, and stayed until I was 25 and moved to LA. So I guess I'm not from Columbus, but lived there, and don't live there any more.
