Littleton, Colorado is located southwest of downtown Denver along the C and D light rail lines. It has a current population of about 40,000 and is home to Arapahoe Community College.

That looks like a nice little downtown.  Unfortunately, most of Littleton is sprawlburbia (at least from what I rememebr when I was there a little while back).

My my, has Littleton grown.

did you see Columbine High?

Actually, Columbine is not in Littleton, its in the county and is not part of the city's school district.

looks bland but nice. nothing wrong with that. excellent job!

more littleton trivia:

The film Bowling for Columbine includes a brief interview with Matt Stone that suggests South Park was largely inspired by Parker and Stone's childhood experiences in Littleton, Colorado. Stone presents a vision of Littleton as painfully normal, and highly intolerant of non-conformist behavior. This may or may not explain some of the sorts of mockery in South Park. It has also been widely reported that the town of South Park is based on Fairplay, Colorado, where Trey Parker lived for a time.

Looks like a nice town, though the first thing that came to mind was Columbine.

I think the growth of the community college next to downtown is starting to change the area. I saw several 'college' type stores and hangout places. I did like that most of the businesses were local and not chain stores, it gave the area some uniqueness.

When was RTD extended to Littleton?

When was RTD extended to Littleton?

I believe it was 2000.

Mass transit...what a concept.

I visited Denver in January and ended up driving through Fairplay... It bears an uncanny resemblance to the fictional town of South Park. Fairplay actually sits within a broad basin between two maintain ranges, and this basin is known as South Park. So the fictional town in the show really isn't so fictional.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to ride the light rail system while I was in town.

I had an image of the city being much larger (physcially and population-wise).

Thanks for the pics!
