Legality of stadium pat-downs questioned

Bengals will pay for quick searches of fans on Sunday

By Kyle Nagel [email protected]

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals fans will likely face longer lines to enter Paul Brown Stadium this weekend as team and county officials work to clear up confusion about NFL-mandated use of hand searches for patrons entering league stadiums.

On Wednesday, team officials accompanied Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters and the county’s sheriff, Simon Leis, to Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, where they asked Judge Beth Myers to issue a temporary restraining order barring the team from its “pat-down” responsibilities until legal issues are resolved.

So private entities are allowed to do something the government cannot do, that doesn't make since.

Portune wants no stadium pat-downs

BY KIMBALL PERRY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

But the team said Saturday that patdowns will continue for a second season.

For Pete's sake..it's a freakin pat down..BIG DEAL..get over it!!  To many uptight people out there....

As soon as someone were to smuggle some sort of explosive device in..then those same people will be asking "Why didn't they have better security"?

I agree, but "no big deal..get over it" doesn't quite pass constitutional muster.

^agreed.....but the point is...why the hell do people have to take it that far?  Between everyone crying about this or that..or suing about this or that...this country can sometimes make me ill!

Personally I don't think it's that big of a deal to pat people down. If a terrorist did want to target a stadium, the terrorist would obviously go where security isn't tight so that would make Paul Brown Stadium susceptible if it were to loosen its precautionary measures.
