I love how this expands on the city's urban feel.

You're welcome!

McNasty's? Are you referring to the old Diner that used to be next to the hardware store? If so, it was torn down for the redevelopment plans of the city.

no, mcnasty's was a rather famous and long running punk bar. all i could find out about it on the internets was that it was called screwy louie's in the 'oughts (2001-2006 at least). the address is 200 S Depeyster St Kent, OH 44240. thx if that helps.

I don't know for sure, but I think that it was also torn down. The next time I am downtown I will check it out.

Post-McNastys it was the Shark Club, then the Palomino and a few other names; whatever the case, it was taken over by the mainstream. By the 90s most of the "punk" types were going to places in Akron or just hanging out at the Town Tavern a few blocks away.

Looking at google and live.com maps, the building is still there but I'm not sure how current those are.

are you sure mayday? it looks like the right place, but when i googled this old rawk band site had a post from 2002 that said "You can expect to see us at all your favorite clubs along with our debut at Screwy Louie's (formerly Filthy McNasty's) located in Kent on the first of November."

also, i saw another site said filthy's was called barcode after screwy louies. so were those other monikers you mention after it was called barcode? and is this address the right spot? now i'm confused. obviously i am waaay too old school, but thx if you can explain.

err wellll why not? we invented the term.  :banger:

but to the point, so this is all the same place we are talking about then? yes? seems so.

anyway, it was of minor importance obviously, but i have someone to pass that along to so thx again.

ps -- andrew is you could add a pic of this building sometime that would be cool thank you!

^I will try to stop by tomorrow before I head back to Mansfield for the summer.

MayDay and Mrnyc - The building you all were talking about was the Bar'N, which has been shutdown and the building is slated for demolition. I have pictures of it, but they are on my laptop, which I don't have access to.

thx for the update. maybe you can post the photos when you get a chance?

do you know what are they going to build there?

man, that joint sure had a long run and a lot of lives.

Yes, I will post the pictures when I get a chance. I don't think that they have any definite plans, but the developer/city are hoping to attract restaurants, a hotel and a conference center.
