Posted May 12, 200916 yr Kent, Ohio Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Back on S. Water St, Best pizza in town, well, at least at 2 in the morning. I love how this expands on the city's urban feel.
May 12, 200916 yr Thanks for the tour! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

May 12, 200916 yr Thanks for the tour! You're welcome! lovin the kent threads -- great work! say, whatever happened to filthy mcnasty's? did it eventually turn into one of those other places? thx if you know. McNasty's? Are you referring to the old Diner that used to be next to the hardware store? If so, it was torn down for the redevelopment plans of the city.
May 12, 200916 yr no, mcnasty's was a rather famous and long running punk bar. all i could find out about it on the internets was that it was called screwy louie's in the 'oughts (2001-2006 at least). the address is 200 S Depeyster St Kent, OH 44240. thx if that helps.
May 12, 200916 yr I don't know for sure, but I think that it was also torn down. The next time I am downtown I will check it out.
May 12, 200916 yr Post-McNastys it was the Shark Club, then the Palomino and a few other names; whatever the case, it was taken over by the mainstream. By the 90s most of the "punk" types were going to places in Akron or just hanging out at the Town Tavern a few blocks away. Looking at google and live.com maps, the building is still there but I'm not sure how current those are. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 15, 200916 yr are you sure mayday? it looks like the right place, but when i googled this old rawk band site had a post from 2002 that said "You can expect to see us at all your favorite clubs along with our debut at Screwy Louie's (formerly Filthy McNasty's) located in Kent on the first of November." http://www.davesplanetlive.com/newsletter.htm also, i saw another site said filthy's was called barcode after screwy louies. so were those other monikers you mention after it was called barcode? and is this address the right spot? now i'm confused. obviously i am waaay too old school, but thx if you can explain.
May 15, 200916 yr Wellll, my last days at Kent were in 1996. Barcode means nothing to me - my recollection is: McNastys > Shark Club > Screwy Louies > Palomino > (unremarkable sh!tpit name) > (second unremarkable sh!tpit name). Btw, waaay too old-school folks shouldn't use terms like "rawk" ;-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 15, 200916 yr err wellll why not? we invented the term. :banger: but to the point, so this is all the same place we are talking about then? yes? seems so. anyway, it was of minor importance obviously, but i have someone to pass that along to so thx again. ps -- andrew is you could add a pic of this building sometime that would be cool thank you!
May 24, 200916 yr MayDay and Mrnyc - The building you all were talking about was the Bar'N, which has been shutdown and the building is slated for demolition. I have pictures of it, but they are on my laptop, which I don't have access to.
May 24, 200916 yr thx for the update. maybe you can post the photos when you get a chance? do you know what are they going to build there? man, that joint sure had a long run and a lot of lives.
May 26, 200916 yr Yes, I will post the pictures when I get a chance. I don't think that they have any definite plans, but the developer/city are hoping to attract restaurants, a hotel and a conference center.
