April 8, 20169 yr They had signs on the planning commission agenda awhile ago. I've been wondering too where they are. I'm sure they'll be put up eventually. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
April 24, 20169 yr A recent photo gallery of The Schofield. http://www.clevelandconstruction.com/experience/detail/kimpton-schofield-hotel-residences
April 25, 20169 yr I'm seeing a lot of beautiful elements, but the transition from strait-laid wood to herringbone to the hexagonal floor pattern and light fixtures seems odd. I have to say that rooms themselves look great.
April 25, 20169 yr I know that everyone who frequents this thread share my sigh of relief when you consider that the corner of east 9th and Euclid could have been considerably different today. Thie beautiful Schofield building, a true architectural icon from the glory days of Cleveland's past has been restored and repurposed, promising to contribute significantly to the city's future. Meanwhile, across the street-on both sides-the Bruer Tower (which we almost lost to a KPF creation) is now part of a fantastic mixed-use redevelopment highlighted by the most spectacular supermarket/cafe to be found anywhere and a redevelopment of the Huntington Building is transforming it into a spectacular mixed-use gem. I think this intersection speaks well of the renewed energy and sense of pride that has taken hold of this city. Ever time I pass through the Nine-Twelve neighborhood I am thrilled at the realization that we no longer feel we need to destroy the greatness of the past to build a bright future.

April 26, 20169 yr Did Parker's Grille open? It was mentioned upthread that they would open in Mid-April and there has been no mention of it anywhere.
May 7, 20169 yr As of yesterday, May 7th, still no sign of any kind identifying the hotel as the Kimpton. I went in to ask an employee if they are ever going to put one up, but the line was longer than it was worth waiting for. I could spend time searching but did someone post an illustration of the planned main sign? Is it not approved yet? As I wrote recently, a tasteful, professional banner would be far better than nothing. And, again, something should be seen from the west also - as the building juts out. The Drury, which just opened (has banner stating it) has had a permanent sign installed for weeks, while the landscaping has a ways to go yet.
May 7, 20169 yr None of thier hotels have signage that says Kimpton. Just the hotel name like Palomar, Monaco, which are in several cities, and unique properties like Hotel Burnham in Chicago, and now Schofield in Cleveland

It's interesting to compare this signage to that of the development across the street. Much more professional and tasteful.
May 8, 20169 yr I really like the sign. I have always had a good experience staying at Kimpton hotels, so I hope this one lives up to their reputation. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
May 8, 20169 yr Does anyone know if all the apartments are rented? By the way how many are there? And anyone know how the Schofield Kimpton is doing occupancy wise since it opened in March?
May 8, 20169 yr Stayed at the Kimpton last weekend. The building and rooms are wonderful. However the noise from (I'm assuming) Azure on the 9th street side was unbearable. We ended up having to leave in the middle of the night. I'm not sure if it's a case of the rooms being insufficiently sound-proofed or if the noise was just that obnoxious.

I was just hit up by a group looking for something upscale in Cleveland and they asked about this new property. If there is loud music bothering guests, that's not a good sign.

It was actually moreso shouting/fights/general revelry. I said Azure/Vault but I suppose there are plenty of bars at the Prospect intersection that could cause noise problems. I was actually kind of surprised at the douchey-ness of it all. It went on all night too. From @9 til 3.
May 15, 20169 yr I think the signage at The Nine/Metropolitan is just fine. Tasteful and sophisticated. The one exterior feature I think is rather crummy is the artificial plants. I don't think they have any place at the entrance to a luxury hotel like that. If they don't want to maintain live plants they should invest in sculpture; flags, banners, or other cloth decorations like windsocks;, a special lighting effect; or a fountain or two or mini-waterfall.
June 23, 20177 yr Does Anyone know how Parker's Grille at the schofield is doing? I know a few people that work there. It's doing pretty well. I like the place.

November 5, 20186 yr Just spoke to someone from CRM, and they are opening a pop up bar in the Schofield called Lake Effect at the corner of East 9th and Euclid.

I spoke to the bartender last night. He said that Lake Effeft as an xmas themed bar will remain open until January 15th. Then it will probably remain open as another bar afterward. If this is this is true that would be great news for a space that’s been vacant for so long.
December 28, 20186 yr itd be fun if that was always a popup bar and they just changed the theme every couple months

January 21, 20214 yr Bank signage up. I know it’s probably not our first choice for retail but it will definitely be nice to have an active business here and it also have a nice nighttime presence. It does look like the corner door isn’t going to be used 🤨
July 23, 20222 yr Workation: Kimpton Schofield converts eighth floor into long-term suites for guests https://www.freshwatercleveland.com/street-level/KimptonLongStay072022.aspx “The seven suites on the eighth floor are one- or two-bedroom, one- and two-bath units with full kitchens with dishwashers; coffee makers and toasters; laundry facilities; and free Wi-Fi. “We did a little soft remodeling,” says Toma. “We touched everything up and put in new flooring and new bathrooms. We really wanted to give more options for our guests.” … “Toma says the extended stay suites average between $399 and $499 per night, depending on the room and the length of stay. He advises looking at the different options on the reservation page.” When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

July 23, 20222 yr That's pretty pricey for an extended stay suite. Usually I find them to be cheaper than regular rooms, if you're going to be staying there a long time. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

These are converted apartments - much nicer and also larger suites than a typical extended stay hotel. When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
