Posted May 18, 200916 yr I was in Washington, DC last week for just under 58 hours. Fortunately I had the afternoon free on Wednesday to get out & see for myself what makes Northwest DC such a vibrant & pleasant place to live & play. While I was in DC, I actually stayed with a friend who lives just 2 blocks from Dupont Circle (on Massachusetts Avenue). The photo tour starts out in & around Dupont Circle, then proceeds up 18th St NW through Adams Morgan, then westward across the Calvert Street bridge into Woodley Park, then up Connecticut Avenue to Cleveland Park. From that point, I took the Metro up to Friendship Heights/Chevy Chase, MD before returning to Dupont Circle. From there, I headed east along P St NW to Logan Circle, then turned southwest down Rhode Island Ave to Scott Circle, and finally wrapped things up by heading northwest along Massachusetts Avenue back to my friend's apartment. I most definitely liked all of the areas I visited, but for me none of the neighborhoods quite measured up to Dupont Circle. It's basically just about anything & everything I could want in an urban neighborhood. Loved it, loved it, loved it. So anyway, here are my photos. :) Beautiful building: I *adored* this building... for me, the architecture/design of it was so attractive! Cleveland Park Metro Station: Friendship Heights Metro Station: Back to Dupont Circle:

May 20, 200916 yr sigh...I need to get to DC asap. Great photo set! Are you taking the boys with you? LMAO!!! You bitch, making comments in threads I would otherwise only visit once. I'm gonna betch slap you shiiiitbaaaag!
May 20, 200916 yr Absolutely wonderful! Its got everything - old buildings / new buildings - colorful facades / historic facades - subways - trees - parks - sidewalk cafes - and great weather too. And on the other hand, depending on where you go, abject poverty, hard-core ghetto and ubiquitous violent crime. Not to attack the thread or any of the forumers; the photos are gorgeous, and so is the area. It looks like the kind of place I'd truly love to live if I had the means. I just can't help thinking of the opposite end of the spectrum, and although the disparity is typical of any large city in any country, it's an ironic characteristic of our nation's capital that gets swept under the rug. Sincerely and with apologies, Debbie Downer

And don't forget the crime. Ohioguy over the weekend after your visit, there was a shootout off of 18 Street with police men being shot and a young man dying, pretty much right where one of your pictures is. Also, we had more of the usual brutal robberies take place. Amazing considering how gentrified the area is.
