Posted June 1, 200916 yr So today I decided to drive over to Trinity Place and take advantage of the gorgeous weather. In the past few years, Trinity Place, in Williamsport's Millionaires Row Historic District, has been restored to a beautiful street, and the surroundings are equally as beautiful. Then I walked over to Way's Garden Park and took some more photos. Enjoy. Peter Herdic Transportation Museum: When the Museum is open, I think you can tour this gorgeous restored PRR passenger car. Wish I parked somewhere else for this shot: Now on to the Peter Herdic Hotel. Peter Herdic was a major fixture in Williamsport's Victorian era. He was an entrepreneur, inventor, and built many of the breathtaking structures in Williamsport. Many weddings are photographed here: Trinity Place is the brick street in the foreground: Taken from West Fourth Street (Millionaires Row). This building originally had four floors instead of two. I'm not sure when it happened, but a fire destroyed the third and fourth floors: I then started to walk towards another one of Herdic's masterpieces. I took a few photos along the way. Covenant Central Presbyterian: The stately YWCA: The Berkshire: And here we are. One of the most beautiful buildings in Williamsport; The Weightman Block built by Peter Herdic: After that, I walked back past Trinity Place and into Way's Garden Park. It's a beautiful park that was built in 1913. One of the entrances off West Fourth Street: The next building is my favorite church in the City of Williamsport. Billtown is known for it's churches, and IMO, this is one of the most beautiful; Trinity Episcopal, also built by Herdic, along with Eber Culver. Eber Culver designed a lot of the buildings that Herdic built, such as, Herdic's Hotel, the old City hall, and the old post office which is now the current City Hall. I wish I did some vertical shots of the 218-foot spire. I might been able to actually get the whole thing in-frame. Ah well: While I was shooting, I heard some jamming next door. It came from the Uptown Music Collective, a nonprofit music school: Hope you enjoyed. I know I did.
June 1, 200916 yr Wow! Beautiful photos, and they show a part of Williamsport I never knew about. The Weightman Block is glorious in its size and elaborate style.

Thanks Rob, and yeah whole area is amazing. It didn't always used to be that nice though. It used to be one of the "bad" areas of town, but with all of the development and restorations being done in the past 4 years, it has really come around. The transportation museum area wasn't even there 4 years ago. The station was vandalized, covered in graffiti and being used as a shed of some sorts. But then the the land behind the property, where the tracks used to be, was developed and then the City re-did the whole area as part of its streetscape project. And yeah, the Weightman is glorious. It has always been. The upper floors have always been loft apartments, and it was just redone a few years ago. I'm going to wait and see how the neighborhood turns out, and if it keeps getting better, I would love to get an apartment in that building. It looks like there used to be a penthouse at the top, and I am dying to see it.
September 21, 201212 yr I was planning on blowing through Williamsport but it might be worth tarrying here considering how nice the buildings are. The hotel in the early pix is a remarkable survivor.
