and was wondering what gym people who live in that area use?  I can't think of any place nearby there.  So I am curious where do you all go to get your workout on?

I think Cleveland State has discounted rates for the summer months too.  You may want to at least call, because they are a true college rec center, and can have everything you'd need.

I would check out a few of the  city of Cleveland rec centers and see if they have what you need before you drop money on generally overpriced downtown memberships. agree CSU  gym reputed to be very good. Also check the Y. there is one downtown and in Old Brooklyn, I think.

Get an ab wheel, pull-up bar, a pair of push up handles and a dog and save yourself the $$.  But if people watching is your thing, I would try the CSU fitness center.... but not sure how lively it is during the summer months and I haven't been in it since it was redone.

LOL But real training is done in a gym. The only alternative to a gym is a "real" gym in your home, which the average person cannot afford. I would say the CSU gym is the nicest in the area. They have a good size weight room, plenty of tread mills and lots of girl’s machines, not to mention VERY clean.  I lived right next to the CSU gym, went there everyday after classes. A+.  Not sure about the Fit works on 6th, I'm sure they have everything you need though. As Peabody said try the Cleveland rec's, now that’s old school.

I use the fitworks downtown...it is good enough, not as nice as the one in Rocky River.  Comperable to the one in Parma.

One nice thing about it is they have multiple locations that you can use.
