So, tomorrow (technically today  :-D) I am heading down to Cbus for the day. I want to go to Short North, downtown, and German Village. However, I don't want to have to drive everywhere, so I was considering getting a day pass and taking the bus around. I was looking at the transit map and it looks like I can take the 2 from Short North to downtown, but I would have to transfer to the 7 (or the 16?) to get from Downtown to German Village. Is this correct? Also, how frequent are the buses? I will be in Columbus in the afternoon (1-?), so I am assuming service will be frequent.

Also, are there any buildings with observation decks downtown?

Sorry for the short notice and thanks in advance!

High Street is generally pretty frequent and you do have to transfer to get to the German Village.  Rhodes Tower's observation deck is FREE and open until 4:30 but closed on weekends.

Thanks so much!

If you're just walking from the Short North to German Village, it's not a horribly long walk either - and it'd take you through Downtown for some photo ops.

I was thinking about doing that but I didn't know how long of a walk it was. Thanks.

i walked it a few weeks ago, i think it was about 30 mins at a brisk pace.  really nice walk

I guess you're already out and about. Let us know what you think.

Either way, I certainly hope he didn't try to walk all the way from the Short North to German Village.

I don't think it's that far; it's just boring to me on High since there's nothing downtown but corporate towers and parking lots unless you take a detour. I usually prefer saving a buck fifty and walking but it's hot as hell today.

I was kidding. You're right about the heat. Still, as small as downtown is, I can't see the benefit in waiting around for a bus when you could be half way there by foot before it arrives. Plus he could've hoofed it over past the new River South construction and come into GV via the Brewery District. There are more than enough doorways along there to catch some shade.

Well, I am back! By the way, I did walk all the way from Short North to German Village and it wasn't that bad, although the heat did suck. We made a couple of detours; we went to the top of the Rhodes Tower, stopped in at that amazing bookstore in German Village, and chilled out in Schiller Park. It was a really good trip and I am no longer going to be so harsh on Cbus, however, I still like Cleveland more. :)
