They changed the title to 14. I think it's actually 13 with two levels underground. That's where the 15 came from. Not sure where 14 is coming from.

May 29, 20241 yr I noticed FAA filings have been made for the NCH expansion. I'm seeing applications for three different tower cranes and the expansion tower. 180' tower crane for a parking garage: https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=620979184&row=337 376' tower crane for the north side of the construction site: https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=620979704&row=338 453' tower crane for the south side of the construction site: https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=620980449&row=339 281' hospital tower: https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=617683041&row=90 At 281', this expansion would become the 24th tallest building in Columbus once Merchant Tower tops out. It would be just one foot taller than the Midland Building and five feet shorter than the Encova Building.

June 25, 2024Jun 25 Site work has started on the newest addition to the ever-expanding main campus of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Initially envisioned as a 12-story tower that would match the height of the existing hospital, plans now call for the new building to be 14 stories tall. The 850,000-square-foot building, which will essentially continue the curved facade of the existing hospital to the north, along Parsons Avenue, is slated for completion in 2028. It could eventually hold hold as many as 432 beds, but will have 240 on opening day, said Katelyn Scott, Senior Media Relations Strategist for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The new building will hold an expansion of the emergency department as well as the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units and the Hematology, Oncology & Blood and Marrow Transplant department. This is such a wonderful project, that will continue to grow and adapt. As the CU article indicates, there's less access to healthcare for children in rural parts of Ohio. I've personally ran into families that had to traverse to Children's Hospital from as far as West Virginia and Kentucky.
July 25, 2024Jul 25 New facility set for ‘state-of-the-art’ care "Outpatient surgeries and rehabilitation care at Nationwide Children’s now have a new home in the $179 million Livingston Orthopedic and Surgery Center. The 272,000 square-foot facility is the latest undertaking in the downtown hospital’s $3.3 billion project announced back in 2021 and just one of the dozens of developments across central Ohio’s health systems. The six-story building officially relocates the the hospital’s surgery center from the main hospital, and and is slowly phasing in a wide berth of clinical services that go beyond surgical needs. Once all clinical groups are moved into the center, a hospital spokesperson said it expects to serve around 70,000 patients annually. The space includes physical and occupational therapy care, a cerebral palsy clinic, sports medicine clinics to address musculoskeletal injuries and other sports-related injuries, as well as a concussion clinic and rheumatology department, among others. Patients will also have access to the 11,000 square-foot rehabilitation gym, 2,700 square feet of turf space, rehab areas with specialized equipment, a basketball court, gymnastics tumbling space and a performing arts studio." https://www.dispatch.com/
September 2, 2024Sep 2 Since the jobsite is quiet for the holiday, I used the opportunity to get a few different looks at NCH earlier this morning

But yea, this will be the shortest of three cranes. This one at 180' and then another at 376' and another 453'. The eventual tower will be 281'. Should be an impressive sight coming into downtown from the east side, and even traveling south toward downtown on 71.

October 14, 2024Oct 14 I love how the angle of the photo makes the city look so dense! All the surface parking lots in this area are hidden.
April 15Apr 15 Nice to see them finally getting close to ground level. They spent a lot of time on the foundation and below ground parking decks. Can't wait to start seeing vertical progress.
May 11May 11 The new tower at NCH should be peeking over the fence relatively soon as work is now above ground level!
