Posted June 22, 200915 yr Isolated from the rest of the Southside by SR 104, railroad tracks, and industrial sites is this miniature neighborhood named after the two lone roads that branch off of Groveport Rd. It's obvious there was more from the several empty grass lots dotting the neighborhood. MAP Just a reminder that yes, this is Columbus. Next up is Parsons Avenue (see the sign in the picture above?) from this area up to Livingston (before the huge I-70-71 entanglement that cuts it off).
June 22, 200915 yr And people say Columbus has no grit. Just curious, why did you want to visit here?

June 22, 200915 yr I was near the end of Parsons and knew this little hood was right down the street, so I figured I'm already down here, might as well get this too. I went here for the sake of further photo-documenting all urban neighborhoods in the city. Aside from that, there's no reason to go here except to drive through and take in the strange rural feel of the place. There could technically be a little main street-like area along Groveport, but since the area has such a small population and is isolated it would need a rail stop to attract more residential development to fill in the blanks. While I didn't feel like I was in dangerous neighborhood, I got the feeling from some of the signs people had on their homes (beware of dog, etc) that they're not crazy about outsiders being there.
June 22, 200915 yr really bizarre. not really when you consider the 200+sq mi and growing city limits!

June 23, 200915 yr Not all of Columbus looks like the Short North...got further down Parsons a few miles and your eyes will pop out of their sockets. Arkansas or Georgia will look like Paradise. Try Groveport Road near Williams Road...Yikes!!! Talk about time travel. The city of Columbus has neglected the South Side for years....made promises to the people, and followed up on exactly zero. The whole area is a total mess.
June 23, 200915 yr You're talking about Scioto Southland which is on the other side of 104. One of the goals of the neighboring TriSouth 2004 neighborhood plan east of Parsons: "Market the TriSouth neighborhoods to young working professionals." ::) These neighborhoods function like sprawling suburbs with little to walk or bike to in a short distance, so urbanizing places like these would be more likely to bring results rather than mindlessly expecting YPs to move into them.
