Here we get some really intact urban streets in the south end, but first more car-centric crap.

No doubt about it; Parsons has a ways to go and it's going to take some serious changes in the local culture and/or new people to move in who have values that will make this a place worth living and visiting.

Man, you went way down on Parsons, didn't ya? LOL!

Cool find!  Behind the brick facades, this building has the bones of an old Sandy's burger stand with the angled windows and modern winged roofline.  We had one in Lorain that became a Hardee's before being demolished for a Blockbuster Video.

Here's an image from a friend's blog:

And a couple from a website dedicated to the memory of Sandy's Hamburgers:

Went as far as my legs would take me.

I was wondering what the deal was with that building. I'd rather have an original Sandy's there myself.

Thanks for the pics!!

Another fine tour of C-Bus.  And great information on the former Sandy's hamburger joint.  It must've looked pretty space age when it opened.

Never really went to Parsons in my many years living in Columbus... doesn't look like I missed out on too much.  Thanks for sharing these photos!

That's what's so sad; even with all those intact storefronts you still weren't missing out on much of anything. This should be the other High St, but it's far from it. Right now there are a few local pizza joints (anyone know if they're good?), Plank's and now Hal & Al's. Those are the only two places I have ventured to at night on Parsons and the only two I would ever care to.

I forgot to mention that I took these while pride festivities were going on and High St was bustling with foot traffic. While that was happening, this was just another sad day on Parsons Ave.

This IS Columbus.

Oh please!  This IS Parsons Avenue, which IS one small part of Columbus.

i wouldnt say small. its kind of the poster thread for the parts of columbus, particularly the southern half of the city, that we dont see on neighborhood photo threads.

Yes. This Parsons thread has a lot in common with Main and Livingston and Long and Cleveland and West Broad and Sullivant.

You should do a thread on the Linden neighborhood next!
