Washington D.C.- Part IV George Washington University and Foggy Bottoms

Ohh I lied I actually have two more D.C posts to go..

George Washington also known as GW is located in just North of the Mall.  The university is located within the Foggy Bottoms neighborhood.

GW is a mix between historical buildings which existed before the beginnings of the University and many modern buildings.  The university has grown significantly in the past decades.  My dad who graduated from the school said that after a recent visithe hardly recognizes the school.  And he graduated around 1980.

Nice to see this neighborhood.  I can't recall seeing an online photo tour of the area before.  I would have liked to check it out for myself when I was in DC last month, but I simply didn't have enough time.  Thanks for posting these! :)

I remember a Metro Station - I'm thinking it was Foggy Bottom - where the down escalator was like a journey into the center of the earth; it seemed to fade out of sight in the distance.

My then-bf, who always put up a Macho-Man front, was terrified of it. He had to shut his eyes and hold tightly to the moving handrail with one hand and my arm with the other.

No problem!

I know there are tons of D.C. neighborhoods still untouched on this website and I'm not just speaking of the ghetto neighborhoods in the SW but many neighbors in the NW and NE.  There is also some great housing stock just east of Adams Morgan that while rather poor is still in good shape.  I suspect that this area will be gentrified very soon.

Yea that is quite an experience.  It is located at Foggy Bottoms

Ah, I know it well.  I went to GW for two years before transferring out.  The art deco apartment building was my dorm sophomore year.  Great job!
