Posted July 11, 200915 yr A day of mid-70s temps and low humidity, that is: South side (from Independence): West side (from Lakewood): East side (from Lakeview Cemetery): Of course, when at Lakeview Cemetery - you have to put a quarter on Rockefeller's headstone (supposedly for good fortune): The new cancer center at University Hospitals: Epworth-Euclid church: And off to downtown we go - Cleveland's Lady Liberty: Here's my take on the deal: I got plenty of UV rays that day! Thanks Sportsman - it's been a good run: Don't mind me, I just wanted to snap a pic of my ride ;-) Pedestrians and patios in the Warehouse District: Facades on Lakeside Avenue: Found this (apparently it's a 9mm casing) on the ground near City Hall - saw two cops and said "uhh, this was on the ground". Without missing a beat, the one said "well, where's your clip?" I pointed at my camera and said "THIS is the only thing I shoot with!". Key Center gives Terminal Tower a hug: Turbine or not turbine... Time to pause... Time to reflect... Timeless... Time to rock! Time to ... oh forget it. Stare at it long enough and you get dizzy: Hope you enjoyed! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
July 11, 200915 yr AWESOME set... I especially liked one particular pic in the warehouse and patio section...some people just look great walking away! :-o lol

July 11, 200915 yr Mayday, all of your Cleveland threads are fantastic. When I view them, it's like I'm there. What lenses did you get with the XSi? You couldn't have been shooting all of that with the 18-55 kit lens. Or did you? Amazing photos as always.
July 11, 200915 yr I have two lenses, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS, and the Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC. The Canon lens is great and was part of a bundle from Amazon with the XSi ($100 off the lens, so it was about $700 for the lens and camera). The Sigma does an alright job considering the price (I paid $90 for it). The images aren't nearly as crisp as the Canon, and the color can get washed out but most of the time it takes a decent shot. Fantastic! How do you get these so clear!!! 1. Mother Nature - that day was really low humdity and few clouds. 2. I invested in a better camera in January (Canon XSi). 3. I fully disclose that I use Photoshop to tweak what the camera produces. The photos I post essentially represent what I saw at the moment I clicked the shutter - I have something of a photographic memory, and I like my photos to simply show what I saw (i.e. I avoid oversaturating colors, adding special effects) etc. For example, this is what the camera captured: And this is how I adjusted it (rotated, adjusted highlights/shadows, tweaked levels, upped the saturation by 10% and finally applied a sharpen filter): clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

July 12, 200915 yr Fantastic! I just got off the phone with my friend who was walking down Clifton Blvd in town for work. I wish I was there!
July 12, 200915 yr "capture the truth of the second" I like that. That sums it up much better than I did. "I love how blue the lake looks on a clear day" Amen - come winter time, I'll be looking back at these photos to remind me that it's worth it to wait for the seasons to change :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
July 14, 200915 yr Excellent as always. I have been wanting to get that 55-250 IS lens you have because it isn't that expensive. Saw it used once and I should have sucked it up. I shoot with a fixed 200mm f/2.8 many times...but no IS.
July 14, 200915 yr Excellent work. Where is that piece of granite that you took the reflection shot? That is a pretty sweet pic.
July 14, 200915 yr 1. It's been stumping me as much as you :( 2. If you are refering to the statues on the superior side of the Metzenbaum Courthouse, the answer is no one in particular... they are just symbolic sculpture.
July 14, 200915 yr If you mean this shot, there are two granite spheres located on the southwestern quadrant of Public Square, just across from the Terminal Tower entrance. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
July 14, 200915 yr ahhh.... I was wondering why the reflections curved so much... Did you do much PS tweaking on that shot?
July 14, 200915 yr Pretty much the same as I outlined upthread (rotated, sharpened, etc.). clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

July 14, 200915 yr You should put together a Cleveland photo book and sell at Borders or something. Cleveland: "The truth of the second" (Etheostoma Caeruleum) https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
July 14, 200915 yr you mean something like this  http://www.amazon.com/Clevelands-Downtown-Architecture-Images-America/dp/0738532029

July 22, 200915 yr MayDay, great pics, but you're supposed to put dimes on Rockefeller's grave, not quarters. "John D. Rockefeller died in 1937, just months shy of his 98th birthday. The man who started his career in Northeast Ohio and who helped to fund so many Cleveland institutions returned to Cleveland to be buried at Lake View Cemetery under a simple obelisk. Following his habit of giving dimes to the poor, visitors to Lake View place dimes on his grave in hopes of gaining Rockefeller-like wealth."
July 22, 200915 yr That is correct! I think the reason I ended up losing my wallet in Lakeview after a jog with the dog, is because I neglected to place a dime on J.D.'s grave!
July 22, 200915 yr "MayDay, great pics, but you're supposed to put dimes on Rockefeller's grave, not quarters." HelLO, I was laid off in February, I can use all the good fortune I can get!!! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
July 22, 200915 yr Then I would think you'd be saving the 15 cents, wouldn't ya?! Considering what a ruthless businessman he was, I suspect the ghost of Johnny Rock would just keep the change!
