I have been thinking about purchasing a house in West Park; it is an area that is populated with quite a few members of the Cleveland Police and Fire Department.  However, I am interested in opinions about diversity in the area.  It seems to be a moderately safe community compared to other areas of interest; such as Tremont and Ohio City.  I'd like to hear what you have to say.

Welcome to UO

You might wish to look in the travel and relocation section for information on West Park & Kamms Corner.  I'm sure this thread will be moved to that forum.

Good luck on your house hunt and hope to see more post made by you.

The vast majority of West Park is very safe. I'm sure that the eastern-most portion of West Park has some occassional property crime.

It's a nice area, with a much more Rocky River, Fairview Park feel then Cleveland.

If you want to live in a place that is relatively boring with absolutely nothing cultural to offer then West Park is good to go. I was born there and have family and friends there and it's a wasteland of suburbia in the city

I live in Lakewood, on the border of Westpark.  Westpark is very nice part of Cleveland...lots of beautiful streets and houses.  The nicest part, in my opinion, is the area north of Lorain and west of 150th.  Its definitely more of a family oriented neighborhood.  Lots of families and kids.  It has good access to the Rocky River Reservation, which is great for biking, running, fishing, etc.  Impett Park is a nice city park, with a pool, ballfields, tennis courts and a playground.  Kamm's Corner's is undergoing a streetscape improvement right now, so hopefully that will lead to filling in some of the empty retail space.  Currently there are 4 or 5 good bars there, with a Panini's set to open soon.  Kamm's plaza has decent neighborhood retail, though the grocery store recently closed.  I've heard that Dave's and Marc's both bid on the space, so I'm sure it will be replaced soon.  There's a pretty good farmer's market on Sundays.

Morning Theft...the "family orientation" of the neighborhood is definately an attraction; it is also nice to hear the possibility of a grocery store coming soon...taking it all into consideration.  Thanks!

I bought a house there not too long ago.  I'm very happy to be living there, but compared to Ohio City or Tremont, it's way quieter, which took some time for me to get used to.  I did buy a house right near the West Park Rapid, so my connection to downtown is still very strong.

I guess it all depends on what you're looking for.
