You love me.

You love me.

In a third world kind of way.....

I'll take what I can get.

I'll take what I can get.

Which is typical of you people who reside below the turnpike.  ugh.

How many GBs of that crap do you have floating around, wasting space on the internet?

So now MayDay has taken to posting pics of MTS, too?

Honey tons.  I'm a calculating and resourceful, remember?  ;)

You're fun.  In a third world domestic staff kinda way.  I'm sure I would have to check your pockets and bags after your shift, but people like you, do serve some sort of purpose.

I guess ProkNo5 has been retired as my favorite UO toy.

Oh....and be very careful of the creature known as MayDay...he's justs a venomous as I am...but he has one special power I don't posses....and trust...you don't want to find out what that power is.  If you do, you'll have three days to think about it.  Word to the wise, head the messenger.  ;)

Damn, this coffee I just made is delicious.

That was low blow!  Even for you!!

Suck it, addict.    :-D

OK....I've had my fun.  I know the forumers have been cracking up at this thread.  LOL  I'm in such a silly mood today.  he he he

Well, Superior Avenue does traverse one of Ohio's greatest bridges en route to passing right through Public Square.

Haha.  I'm not an expert on Cleveland, but are you talking about the white bridge that they light up (blue or purple, I think it is).  I think it's near the Flats?

Yes. This 1917 beauty, formerly the Detroit-Superior High Level Viaduct, now known as the Veterans' Memorial Bridge. It has a lower deck that once carried streetcars across the Cuyahoga River on four tracks, with room for two more tracks. This photo was shot from the Old Viaduct in 1988:

To get you some more Cleveland, maybe more than you thought you could stand (even a few photos including photos of some of the forumers), click on the photo. There's stuff going back as far as 1978.

Yeah, that's a beautiful bridge, especially at night.  I'm still working through your website.  Haven't gotten to Cleveland yet.  :)

Just a reminder that the subway tours are coming up on September 5th. it's a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee while enjoying the best views of Cleveland.

  • 1 month later...

Just went to Einstein Brothers to get my morning cup of Tribeca Blend, and they switched it to some sort of something called Autum Blend. I am not happy. Tribeca was nice and dark, a little bit smoky. This is OK but not worth the two block walk. The state of coffee is pretty poor right now in Downtown Akron. Angel Falls is opening a store in my building though, in the old Susan's spot. Hopefully that will help.

I don't know if anyone had the misfortune of trying Starbucks new instant coffee--VIA--during the big rollout over the weekend. The best thing I have to say about it is that for instant coffee, it's semi-passable. In other words, if you're stuck on a desert island, in the woods, etc...it's better than nothing, but just barely. Not that anyone needed to even try it to come to that conclusion. Don't say you haven't been warned.

I didn't try it, but it has the appearance of something that has been strained threw someone old worn out pantyhose.

I think that would have been an improvement.

Thats why I dont drink instant Cafe!

I have cut 'way back on my coffee consumption. I still buy Starbucks whole beans, and switch it up from time to time on the varieties. Always an extra-bold variety, though.

I used to make a 10-cup pot every morning and consume the whole thing by about 2p.m.  I still make the 10-cup pot, but it's every few days. I pour my morning cup, and then divide the rest into individual zip-loc containers and after they cool, I put them in the freezer. Each evening, I set one of the containers on the counter to thaw, and in the morning I pour the coffee into a cup and nuke it.

Works fine for me, and the flavor holds up pretty nearly as well as fresh-perked. I suppose my satisfaction with it means I fail the princess test.

We don't want to demote you to countess, or God forbid Baroness.  Baroness de la sweet and innocent, doesn't quite roll off the tongue like Princess sweet and innocent! Get the Royal Highness program sweetie!

At the risk of starting another MTS/MoonlightOhiotwentycommentthreadthatshouldreallybeonIM, how is the no-coffee thing going, MTS?

First, I'm actually really happy with the new Starbucks VIA.  For instant coffee, I think it's fantastic.  I'll bet anything that people are making it wrong.  That said, I HATE the way they're making us baristas peddle the stuff.  These coffee challenges are ridiculous.  And we had our district manager in our store three times yesterday telling us to put boxes of VIA in customers' hands, then saying "See, look how light it is!" and then asking them to pay for what they have in their hands.  THAT IS SICK!  I swear, if I get told to do that to one of my customers one more time I'm going to snap.

Second,

I guess ProkNo5 has been retired as my favorite UO toy.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I can explain.  My boyfriend banned me from UrbanOhio because I talk about moving to Cincinnati every 5 minutes.  It's gotten so bad that I read the Cincinnati Enquirer almost twice as often as I read the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.  So now I have to check it in the bathroom or during class to avoid his wrath.

lol--that is so funny! you're probably right about the baristas "making it wrong." It seems more than half the people in the NY Starbucks locations don't seem to know what they're doing on any given day. The quality of the normal, brewed coffee varies from place to place, day to day. Half the time it's too weak. I'm not sure how this is possible. Isn't there a set formula for how many scoops per batch should be used?? As per the VIA introduction, over the weekend the employees were being distracted from their regular duties by having to take time out from paying customers swamping them with orders to push this stuff; but I didn't see anything like putting boxes in customer's hands and then asking them to buy it!! I think in NY they would have just told them F-you.

I tried the stuff last week. They wouldn't tell me it was instant. I asked what kind it was, when they offered me a sample, and the barista told me it was an Italian roast. I took as sip and could tell something wasn't right, but couldn't put my finger on it until I remembered they were rolling out an instant. It's not awful tasting, but it has a distinct flavor, almost an artificial sweetness, that I associate with instant coffee.

Regular coffee reheated in the microwave at 9 o'clock at night after sitting out all day has that same flavor. Must be something with the reheating...

Dang! That must be some boyfriend, that you choose him over UO.

I've had several boyfriends, and most of the time I find UO much less annoying.

You're still young. Maybe you should shop around.

:-D

File this under for what it's worth.

So I have modified my caffiene intake to that of a normal human. One cup of regular in the morning and decaf the rest of the day (down from 3 or 4 big travel mugs, plus a cup around 7:30 at night). What is really scary is how much better that I feel. I just decided when I went to get a refill for my second cup of the day last monday that I would get a decaf, and whenI didn't fall off my chair I decided to keep drinking decaf for the rest of the day. So far so good. I have found that I am actually less tired at night, although when I get tired I now fall right asleep.

I've started using my stovetop espresso pot more. I'm tweaking the mix a little, but generally speaking the end product gets a thumbs up.

Honey, that makes two of us.  Why is it I can go weeks without an urge for coffee then someone will make a coffee related post here and now I'm "feinin"?!!

Damn you people!!

There's a lot to be jealous of...brown teeth, heart palpitations, stanky breath.

Yet each sip is like a lover's embrace. A bitter lover that makes me pee a lot, true, but a lover nonetheless.

I prefer to call coffee ,my cruel mistress. I love it so much but it does such bad things to me....such as "death breath", shiny yellow teeth and yes hourly trips to the Men's room...
