Garrettsville

These are some pictures I took of Garrettsville earlier this summer.  It was apart of my Hiram trip.

Overall I was stunned with how much of old Garrettsville is still preserved.  It felt like I was stepping into an old western town

Thanks for these, I used to play basketball with a couple of guys from out that way. I've never visited the town and I don't now why I would so thanks for this view into the town.

It's a beautiful town... my aunt lives in Garretsville in the outskirts a bit from town closer to Nelson's Ledges. I remember going in to town with her when I was growing up.. and coincidentally, my first time driving a car was from Garretsville back to her house when I was about 15.

Wow...three Garrettsville threads now on UrbanOhio.

Neat!

Fascinating! I wonder what treasures would appear if all that cladding were stripped away.

Very true.  The interesting thing is that the cladding is so old that you could call it historic..

Horrible scene in Garrettsville today. A five-alarm fire broke out and an entire section of the historic downtown has burnt down!

Very sad.

oh no that is very sad to see.

A friend from HS was one of the firefighters that responded to the fire and posted this yesterday.

That's disgusting.

Looks like they were all wood buildings with no brick firewalls between them.

While the town has not started to rebuild the burned portion of Main Street, other parts of the historic village are going through a resurgence. The pictures below are of the historic grist mill built in the early 1900's.
