Posted July 26, 200915 yr Camden, Maine (pop. 5,254) The town of Camden was the setting for the 1957 film Peyton Place. It’s very quaint but also touristy and really congested with traffic as US 1 passes through the downtown and there is no bypass route for truck traffic. The weather wasn't very cooperative during my visit, so the quality of the photos is not optimal. Sorry but we had lots of fog and mist the day we went up to Camden, and I don't know how scenic it would have been - I'll definitely pencil it in for 2011. We stay in Tenants Harbor about a half hour down the St. George peninsula, but Camden is a mandatory trip every time due to Maine Sport Outfitters (www.mainesport.com) and Reny's (www.renys.com).
