I'll try and swing by sometime soon and get more eyes on both of these. I imagine I'll notice a lot of new progress. They're moving quick over in UA!

Lots of projects in that general area are moving along at a nice pace for sure... Kenny and Lane area moving quick too. 1550 Kenny is vertical now as well, but I still don't recall ever seeing renderings for it? It looks like it will be five stories. You'll definitely see lots of progress all around. Make sure to loop around the new high school too. Things are moving quick there as well. Work has started on the softball/baseball complex area. That high school is impressive.
November 5, 20213 yr Here's another view of the first building going up at the old Macy's location...
November 9, 20213 yr Here's another shot at the old Macy's site... This is from the Northwest Blvd side.
November 13, 20213 yr Upper Arlington community center planned for Kingsdale Macy's site passes $3M raised After three months, Upper Arlington's community center planned for the Kingsdale Macy's redevelopment has passed $3 million on its way to fundraise at least 10% of the $54 million project, Margie Pizzuti, co-chair of the community center's campaign committee, told Columbus Business First. Pizzuti said she could not disclose the exact amount raised because the financing is a work in progress, but she said she is confident that the project will hit the $5.4 million goal as commitments are continuing to be secured and finalized. November 26, 20213 yr Something to look forward to: Upper Arlington community center designers narrow focus ahead of Feb. 17 unveil --- Keith Hall, managing principal of MSA Sport's Columbus studio, said he plans to present final recommendations at Upper Arlington's State of the City address slated for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Upper Arlington Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road. --- MSA Sport representatives are working to determine which of two plans should be selected. While the size of the building is the same in both proposals, one calls for a six-story building with an underground parking garage, and the other calls for a seven-story building with surface parking. --- Both proposals call for 50,000 square feet of leasable office space. Currently, Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is expected to take up about 35,000 square feet and Nationwide Children's Hospital would take up to 15,000 square feet. Scheme A, which calls for street-level parking, tentatively would feature: • First floor: a plaza, a swimming pool and a child-watch area • Second floor: a senior lounge, programming spaces, facility administrative space and fitness space • Third floor: Nationwide Children's Hospital offices • Fourth floor: OSU Wexner rehabilitation services • Fifth floor: fitness space, three gymnasiums and OSU Wexner sports performance services • Sixth floor: fitness space and a 1/6 of a mile track • Seventh floor: a multiuse space and an outdoor deck --- Scheme B, the underground parking option, calls for: • First floor: a plaza, fitness space, a child watch area, pool and lockers • Second floor: fitness space, facility administrative space, leasable space • Third floor: fitness space, a gym, OSU Wexner rehab and sports performance spaces • Fourth floor: OSU Wexner and Nationwide Children's spaces • Fifth floor: a multiuse space, two gyms and an outdoor deck • Sixth floor: a 1/10 of a mile track
November 27, 20213 yr As much as I prefer the underground parking in B, scheme A seems more practical. You've got all your gyms on the same floor, a larger track, and your outdoor deck is on a higher floor. That would push it over the edge for me. Plus I would think think having the pool over dirt vs over parking would lead to less maintenance and less cost.
November 30, 20213 yr Work on the baseball and softball complex at the new UAHS continues at a nice pace:
December 2, 20213 yr From Kingsdale... looks like crews have started working on a new entrance recently:
December 2, 20213 yr In anticipation of more traffic- crews are also widening the entrance from Northwest Blvd:
December 2, 20213 yr They're actually shifting the entire entrance to the south, looks like it will still be three lanes when it's done.
December 2, 20213 yr That's honestly great because that entrance/exit sucked. You almost bottom out every time you pull out onto the street if you have a sedan.
December 6, 20213 yr The Dispatch had this recent aerial photo of the completed "The Lane" development across Lane Avenue from the Shops on Lane shopping center. I like how this angle hides that ridiculous holdout house in the middle:

I like how this angle hides that ridiculous holdout house in the middle: I did not know those buildings had central courtyards, that's pretty cool. That holdout house, if they play it right, could be worth a ton of money in the future. And if they play it wrong, they could miss the opportunity and be stuck there forever unable to sell.
December 10, 20213 yr looks like a new entrance is being built at Kingsdale sorry this was supposed to go in "Upper Arlington". feel free to move it. no idea how it ended up here. Edited December 10, 20213 yr by CbusOrBust
December 22, 20213 yr Crews have now cleared the entire eastern part of the property at Kingsdale... Hopefully this means construction could start soon on the new apartment building going in along Northwest Blvd.

January 26, 20223 yr The Arlington Gateway project took ages to get shovels in the ground but since then it seems they've been making some pretty steady progress.
February 8, 20223 yr Upper Arlington school district, city plan plaza to honor Pleasant Litchford “The city of Upper Arlington and Upper Arlington Schools will partner to build a plaza that will recognize a former slave and a cemetery for Black residents that was erased from the landscape when the former Upper Arlington High School was built. Litchford Plaza will be named in honor of Pleasant Litchford, a one-time slave who became a master blacksmith and settled in the area that is now Upper Arlington. The school district will provide $200,000 for the project, and the city will donate $100,000. After being given his freedom sometime before 1842, he built a successful business and purchased the land where Upper Arlington High School, Northam Park and Tremont Elementary School sit. He established of a school for Black children and was a founding member of the historic Second Baptist Church, which provided an important voice in the anti-slavery movement. Litchford also built a cemetery for Black residents. However, it was paved under the parking lot for the old UAHS when it was constructed in 1956. While the history for decades has been largely ignored, UA Schools officials have led a charge to implement history lessons about Litchford into the elementary curriculum, and now they intend to build a memorial to Litchford and the cemetery. Officials expect Litchford Plaza will be constructed by early summer.“ https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/local/communities/upper-arlington/2022/02/04/upper-arlington-school-district-city-plan-plaza-honor-pleasant-litchford/9318523002/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter_axioslocal_columbus&stream=top
February 11, 20223 yr Crawford Hoying purchases last bit of land next to UA development “Crawford Hoying now owns the last contiguous parcel of land to its Westmont at the Lane project. The firm purchased the office of State Farm Insurance Agent Renee Dutton for $734,000, according to the Franklin County Auditor. The firm declined to comment on any future plans for the site, located at 2471 Westmont Blvd.” https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/02/11/crawford-hoying-purchases-land-next-to-westmont.html I think she could’ve held out for more 😆
February 11, 20223 yr That parcel would make for an awesome little pocket park! Get it landscaped well, add some seating, shaded areas maybe a little water feature. But for 750K I bet they don't do that haha.

It will be interesting to see what they do with this plot.

I truly thought they would've held on longer, but glad they took Crawford's offer. They definitely made quite a pretty penny, regardless!
