The renderings appear to show the parking garage concealed behind curtain wall, which is hopefully still happening. The renderings on MA Design's website match the one on UA's website, so I assume they are the latest: https://designwithma.com/project/arlington-gateway/, https://upperarlingtonoh.gov/community-development/arlington-gateway-project/

I will just have to wait and see.

Right now the white/black parts look kinda cheap.
July 6, 20231 yr It appears the Golden Bear Center will (finally) be coming down soon... From 614now: "...According to a statement shared by owner Collin Gawel, the coffee and breakfast spot (Colin's Coffee) will close its doors for good on Aug. 20th. The plaza has been a redevelopment project in the works for several years, and now it appears the project will be moving forward. Yesterday, Arcadia Development announced it had completed the land acquisition for the redevelopment. Arcadia said that demolition, and later new construction, for the project will begin soon." https://614now.com/2023/food-drink/longstanding-upper-arlington-coffee-shop-and-eatery-announces-closure-with-new-development-on-the-horizon
July 6, 20231 yr I'd love if they kept the sign but I'm sure it's a goner. At the very least I hope there are plans for a new home for the golden bear itself
July 7, 20231 yr Developer acquires land, finalizes buyout agreements with tenants at Upper Arlington's Golden Bear Shopping Center “The main building at Upper Arlington's Golden Bear Shopping Center is set for demolition after the developer closed on the land and finalized buyout agreements with the remaining tenants. Arcadia Development, which is redeveloping the property into a mixed-use complex with residential and commercial space, officially acquired the site for $5.12 million late last week, Managing Partner Scott Patton told me. At the same time, he said, agreements have been reached with three tenants that were not on month-to-month leases. Patton said the land closing and buyout agreements were important milestones for the project, which will head into the demolition phase after the remaining tenants move out during the last week of August. Patton said demolition will begin in the first week of September. Patton said demolition of the main shopping center building, as well as site improvements, will continue through the fall. Arcadia will begin vertical construction around Nov. 1. It has hired Hilliard-based Equity Construction Solutions as the general contractor for the construction portion of the project. Grove City-based Loewendick Demolition Contractors is handling the demo work.“ https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/07/07/golden-bear-shopping-center-upper-arlington.html

August 16, 20231 yr So apparently they are building a massive sidewalk all the way down Lane to Riverside. And when I say massive I mean it, you could have three wheelchairs lined up side by side on this thing or even drive a car down it. A much needed upgrade for the area, I've always thought the sidewalk needed to continue to the end there. Also seem pretty far along with the Arlington Gateway development. Seems to be less fencing around the site and only "up high" thing I saw them doing was installing balcony railings.

It's a shared use path, eventually it will connect to a shared use path along Riverside Dr to connect to Quarry Trails. It won't go all the way down Lane, only from Riverside to Asbury Dr. More info on this page: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/90f4be3c422742fa841a3c523a01b52c Edited August 16, 20231 yr by .justin

September 5, 20231 yr Was at the Golden Bear Center a little earlier. I was told they expect demo to start "this week or next week at the latest" ! Snatched a pic of the bear while there, since his days are numbered

September 23, 20231 yr FYI, 222 Lane is in Columbus, not UA. Arlington Gateway is at, like, 1397 West Lane if that is the reference. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
