Posted August 14, 200915 yr You folks have been extremely helpful with food and travel recommendations in the past (thanks!), so I'm coming to you again for suggestions. My girlfriend and I have a "date" tomorrow night and are spending an evening in Akron. I've really only driven through the city and do not know what it has to offer. That's where I need help. Our plan is to go to dinner at the Vegiterranean. Beforehand, she'd like to stop at the largest thrift store in Ohio. But what fun, interesting, and/or exciting can we do in the area in the late evening (i.e. 9-10ish) on a Friday evening after dinner? I'd like to avoid drinking unless there's someplace that is an absolute must-see or a phenomenal date place. Maybe an area with unique shops, some type of activity, or an event? Thanks in advance!

August 14, 200915 yr To be honest with you there is hardly anything to do in Akron around 9 or 10 pm on a friday night other then bars/clubs or a movie theatre.. (I know its very sad) My suggestion would be to walk around downtown hand in hand with your lady and take up some of the sights and sounds of DT Akron @ night. (I always do that when I visit a mid to major city) The roof cloud will be lit up over the art museum so that would be a neat picture. Perhaps share a milkshake on the rooftop patio @ the lockview on main st. Then walk along the canal for a few minutes. I'd also say go to luigis.(known for its pizza) Its an Akron institute just like Swensons.(known for its cheeseburger, the galley boy) Both are eateries though. Which ever you do.. Enjoy Akron
August 14, 200915 yr Not sure how late they'd be playing but there are some tribute bands playing at the Civic Theatre: http://www.akroncivic.com/eventlist/event_detail.php?id=692&PHPSESSID=68da642dec7a26d056508cb2ae3b1bd3 clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 14, 200915 yr What kinds of things are you and your girlfriend into? Akron is a little outside my zone of familiarity (I live in Canton, but will be moving to Akron in a month or so), but many local newspapers have local events calendars that are often good places to start when you're looking for "unique activities and events." For the ABJ, that's http://events.ohio.com/. Another site that helped me find a number of things to do in Canton when I first moved here was good old Meetup. Not sure if their Akron listings have much that one would consider "date" material, though. Unfortunately, just looking over the calendars, it looks like JamesMatthew is right. At about 9 or 10 on a Friday night, there's not a whole lot going on.
