April 17Apr 17 First-time developer completes six-unit apartment project in historic Newport building A first-time standalone developer is making waves in Newport after completing his first rehab in a hillside multifamily apartment building. Luke Woerner founded his development company, Woerner Co., last May after a decade working at the likes of HGC Construction, Model Group and Corporex. At the end of March, he obtained a certificate of occupancy for the six-unit building at 217 W. 13th St. in Newport, his first solo project, called the McCracken Avenue Apartments. The first two tenants moved in the first week of April. 16 hours ago16 hr Kenton County passes budget funding new 225-acre park, joint UK/NKU facilityKenton County’s budget for the next fiscal year allocates $135 million in funding for two significant projects.The Kenton County Fiscal Court June 10 unanimously approved a $422 million budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.The largest new investment originated through the county is $20 million in bonded funding to begin the first phase of a new Kenton County Park. A county-issued media release described the park as “the most significant single investment ever made in the county’s parks system.”Kenton County in January selected J.S. Held to oversee development and construction of the 225-acre park on the former Fox Run Golf Course in Independence.
