First-time developer completes six-unit apartment project in historic Newport building

A first-time standalone developer is making waves in Newport after completing his first rehab in a hillside multifamily apartment building.

Luke Woerner founded his development company, Woerner Co., last May after a decade working at the likes of HGC Construction, Model Group and Corporex.

At the end of March, he obtained a certificate of occupancy for the six-unit building at 217 W. 13th St. in Newport, his first solo project, called the McCracken Avenue Apartments. The first two tenants moved in the first week of April.

Looks like they have denuded the hillside in Ludlow that will be home to Cityview Station.

Progress from early April that I never added.

Not a bad spot, just as long as the hills hold up! I've always had an issue with Fischer using Dryline barriers. My mind just can't process it as being sufficient enough for a home 😂

I hope they plant a tree. Maybe 2.

The views are spectacular...except for the obnoxious power lines.

I can see my house from here

Who is that mysterious monk in the third picture down? And, I'm not even going to mention the boa constrictor in the last photo.

Kenton County passes budget funding new 225-acre park, joint UK/NKU facility

Kenton County’s budget for the next fiscal year allocates $135 million in funding for two significant projects.

The Kenton County Fiscal Court June 10 unanimously approved a $422 million budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

The largest new investment originated through the county is $20 million in bonded funding to begin the first phase of a new Kenton County Park. A county-issued media release described the park as “the most significant single investment ever made in the county’s parks system.”

Kenton County in January selected J.S. Held to oversee development and construction of the 225-acre park on the former Fox Run Golf Course in Independence. It will be Kenton County’s largest park when complete.

For reference, the city of Cincinnati’s Ault Park is 224 acres, while Great Parks of Hamilton County’s Glenwood Gardens is 338 acres.
