Posted August 18, 200915 yr On Sunday, to wrap up my summer vacation, I decided to drive down to Shikellamy Overlook to try out a panorama and to take many regular photos as well. Then I decided to explore Northumberland and I was pleasntly surprised. I will have to go to Northumberland again though. I am planning a Coal Region road trip in the Fall that probably will go from Northumberland to Shamokin. First I'll start with a panorama. I am still new to stitching, so this is not perfect but I think it's still cool: Scroll---> ---> ---> ---> From Left to right: Northumberland; the confluence of the West and North Branches of the Susquehanna River; Packer's Island in the confluence; Sunbury. I also took some other photos, aside from the panorama. Classic postcard I think: Northumberland. I wish I had a nice telephoto: US-11 crossing the West Branch Susquehanna. Not sure what those trucks were hauling: There were So. Many. boats zipping around in the confluence. Many people were jet-skiing, water skiing, and tubing. Looked like a lot of fun: The North Branch Susquehanna, Norfolk Southern, PA-147 and the river valley looking west towards Danville, PA: Now, on ground level, I give you a little slice of Northumberland, Pennsylvania. Front Street Station; a former PRR station turned restaurant: A beautiful garden/park in the center of town: Lovely: Front Street/US-11: Northumberland National Bank: If it wasn't a Sunday, I just might have purchased this: Queen Street: I loved this building: Post Office: That's it for Northumberland. Like I said before, I plan to go again in the Fall so stay tuned. And here's a bonus. Bald Eagle Overlook, on US-15 near South Williamsport. The airport is Williamsport Regional and the town behind it is where I reside:
