(Sorry, Michigan fans. I actually like your state, but I'm forced to hate you now that I'm an Ohio State student)

Greatest thread of all time.

"You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

Hahaha! Sure am glad there are no Michigan natives that might take offense.  ;)

This is a shame. Little more than 230 years and this is what has become a part of many US cities. There were some good buildings in there. What was interesting...is that even the 60's 70's sprawl plaza was ghost....sprawl more and more and more....until there is NO more.

Wow, thanks for showing the nice parts of Detroit!

Plenty of ammo for Halloween!

Looks like a vacation wonderland!! I'm booking a ticket right away.

I cannot believe you found Crapo Street.  That area Holland near Genesee is actually pretty dangerous.  The Sunnyside Gang used to really run things over in that area, the FBI had a huge sting operation in that hood a few years ago.  They were known for just shooting up a bunch of random people walking down the street.

With that said, I thought the thread was rather positive with all the blue skies and stuff.

BTW, the owners of that church in AA paid people to strip it down.  It was supposed to be demolished over a year ago but the onset of the recession killed this project that is to replace it.

Keep saying Yes! to Michigan!

After seeing those videos C-Dawg posted, I'm ready to book my trip to Michigan. Well, maybe just Northern Michigan...

Frankenmuth and Mackinaw Island are nice.

This thread is full of win. It's better than watching HBO late at night!

Wow, way to kick a man when he is down.  I don't know what it is with OSU fans and their year round fixation with Michigan, anything related to Michigan!  It's months until the football game for crying out loud!  As a former resident of Michigan, I personally don't think this is funny.  The state has been devistated, DEVISTATED, by this recession and not only do I have a lot of friends who have felt the pain, I have too.  All I have to say is that being born and raised in Ohio, and then moving to Michigan for about a decade, the State is amazing.  We now live back in Ohio and I travel several times a year to Michigan.  If you haven't had a chance to explore the state, please do, you won't be sorry.  Don't be like so many of my Ohio friends who miss out on amazing experiences because of a football rivalry!

Oh, BTW, I'm a Zip fan in case you were wondering.

Threads like this are exactly why I am a Michigan fan, and NOT an Ohio State fan.....

I think you are over-analyzing this. Ink has done parody threads, such as this, in Ohio and other locales, so it is not isolated to Michigan.

There is no need to hide that Michigan has many, many decrepit areas. It also has some of the most beautiful scenery.

Apparently the Michigan fans do not have a sense of sarcasm...

Oh, I could smell the sarcasm a mile away. Not unlike Zug Island.

just take it as michigan is well rounded. you cant show the mackinaw island's of the state without showing this too.

Don't hate on the Michigan tourism bureau. They're beating the sh!t out of ours. Michigan > America. They have the best ad campaign in history. THIS is Pure Michigan!

there's an ohio tourist bureau?  :wtf:

well if there is its run by the cleveland clinic if anything and even ted nugent alone tops that budget.

Where did this whole "Ohio State-Michigan" rivalry as a rationale for this thread materialize?  Ink makes no mention of it and while I don't know his team loyalties I do believe he goes to Miami and not OSU.  And like mentioned above, he has done similar parody threads in the past, including sites in Ohio.

That was my sarcastic "justification." I graduated from Miami last spring (unfortunately) and will be at Ohio State this fall.

Now can everyone just....

Well, if it's any consolation, the OSU/UM rivalry means bupkus to about 98% of Michiganders (and 100% of the residents of Crapo street I might speculate); back in Detroit I was always aware that it was a big game, but had no idea how disproportionate the fervor was here in Columbus. I was never that into college sports. The whole rivalry is all a big eye-roll to me.

Hey, I like Zug Island!  As much as I love Delray...

And to be honest, most of Ohio doesn't care either except for Metro Columbus and probably half of Metro Cleveland.

In true fashion, a UofM fan retreats into the closet of Michigan fandom.

Hey, if I was from Michigan I'd deny it too.

Yes. You really nailed me there. How embarrassing.

And even for reasons that will outcast me from Ohio, too:

Seriously: I was born without the sports fan gene. I have no idea what this is all about.

I am going to the Upper Peninsula on vacation on Thursday.  Pictures look real pretty--I can't wait.

Have fun! I've really been wanting to explore the UP.  I really want to visit Marquette and Fayette and ghost towns.  Where all are you going?

Alright alright.  It's just a joke.  Seriously I grew up in Saginaw and lived in Ann Arbor for 6 years and even I laughed.  Nice touch ink with the Chicago move at the end.  I almost missed that.  Granted seeing my hometown fall into its depressed state (well the East side that is) is saddening, but there's a time to lighten up about it like FUN TIMES IN CLEVELAND TOODAY!!

This thread reminded me earlier that I have a disastrous thread coming highlighting epic infill failures in Chicago.

I really want to visit Marquette and Fayette and ghost towns. Where all are you going?

We are going to spend a week in Picture Rocks National Lakeshore (National Park).  We will be do a lot of hiking and a glass-bottomed boat tour.  The kayak rentals are expensive.  We are going to camp and rent a canoe for a day in Cedarville on the Les Cheneaux islands of Lake Huron.  Les Cheneaux is French for "the channels".  So, we will be paddling in protected waters.  The Whitefish Bay maritime museum is recommended and you are the *second* recommendation I got to see Marquette.

most of Ohio doesn't care either except for Metro Columbus and probably half of Metro Cleveland.

It generally seems like the rivalry is big in Daytonnati suburbia, but not so much in the center city or rural surroundings. I've always found this to be an odd trend...

(Especially since I'm a Michigan fan myself)
