How are ads placed on the forums?  I ask because I keep seeing ridiculous partisan attack ads and I sort of have to wonder if there's some sort of agenda at work here.  I understand the necessity of having ad space, but there's got to be a filter or ad package or whatever that prevents bull$hit from being platstered all over the site.

Urbanohio doesn't like you and is trying to intimated you. Stand strong! It can't really hurt you because it is an online forum and not a physical entity.

Yes it is google ads.  When you saw the mentioned ads were you in a political thread?  That is the most likely cause.

I've blocked the offending ads for now.  Just a side note....Premium Members don't see any of these ads  :)

I had this problem on my blog with Google Ad-sense...which places relevant ads on your site. Sometimes the wrong ones sneak through.

No conspiracy theory here. But upgrade to premium status and you can make all of the advertisements go away.

It's an algorithm and it isn't always accurate. For instance, my advertisement below this box states "What can Google do to help your advertising?" I ran ads on my site for a while, but it wasn't targeted very well and therefore I removed it. It's not as if there is a conspiracy to show you only Republican-only advertisements, it just happens to be caching on certain keyboard or cached image of the page.

I think it's important to note that as a premium member you do still see ads at the bottom of threads under the quick reply box.

Since we're in a thread talking about Google ads, the Google ads in this thread are ads for Google ads  :laugh:

 

They always relate to the words on that particular page, but I think the advertisers pick what words they want their ads to apply to.  Are you in the restaurant thread talking about the new "Senate Pub" in Cincinnati?  If so, there's your answer..

Well, now i don't see the ad that was down there before (i swear :weird:)...it was a sprint ad for some phone...it wasn't very big nor was it intrusive since it was way at the bottom of the page.

 

If you want to give people a motivation to donate and not see ads, make sure they're up at the top...maybe between the first post of the page and the second one. 

They are truly all gone now,  I had them at the top and bottom, but they never bothered me enough to say anything!  Rich got rid of them for good!

No.  I think my company's network somehow combines the search history of everyone on the network.  Periodically I also get ads for Asian wives.  My old boss has an Asian wife.
