August 29, 200915 yr Well done! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
August 29, 200915 yr Dayton has more great residential areas than I would've thought. I agree, my first few trips to Dayton I only saw downtown, not the neighborhoods. There are plenty more neighborhoods I plan on photographing :)
August 30, 200915 yr A good example of a failed (or fading) historic district. There are plenty more neighborhoods I plan on photographing Hurry! I hear the bulldozers revving up.
August 31, 200915 yr Some rough spots, but overall it looks comfortable. I've always been fascinated by Italianate houses with belvederes (cupolas).
November 24, 200915 yr Funny. I just moved out of this exact neighborhood 3 months ago. Lived there for a few years. It looks cute from the outside, but the reality is that the whole area is consumed by drug trafficking and other crime. You learned quickly to keep nothing on your front porch or it would be stolen. The Circle K on 5th Street there would get robbed weekly. Scary place.
November 25, 200915 yr Very nice looking neighborhood. It looks like it is/was in the middle of a renaissance. It's sad to read that it is failing.
December 1, 200915 yr The Circle K on 5th Street there would get robbed weekly. Scary place. There was a brutal gay bashing there back when i first moved to Dayton, except the victim wasnt gay, but a punk rocker with a wife or steady girlfriend. I guess he had too much mascara on for the locals, and they just thought he was a homo. The local live music community did benefits for the guy since he didnt have insurance (and apparently suffered brain damage from his beating). So that was my intro to the Huffman area in particular and East Dayton in general. I've heard about the crime and drugs thing overwhelming the area, too (in the recent past).
