Not sure what they are doing with the very large paved area on Prospect & Huron - hopefully some green stuff will make it there. But if anyone has any idea of what will go in this area I'd love to know. But it does look like it won't just be some large slab of concrete.

Pavers are going in the area where there is currently dirt. eventually tables and chairs will go on the plaza as well.

It is a new Medical Mutual Plaza, but it will different then what's in that image.

Thanks so much, very helpful.

So they are not restoring the tree canopy art?

This morning at least part of the construction lift was gone and they were putting in the window panels. What a contrast to see the ones they took out which haven't been cleaned next to the clean ones!!

Speaking of the plaza... they had a crew unloading some trees today.

HERE YOU GO: Plus signage went up!

The Cuyahoga County sign is hard to read coming north down East 9th.  "Cuyahoga County" is ok, but the "Administrative Headquarters" part is hard to make out in that smaller font when you're not looking at it straight on.

And what's with that half-sliced pizza symbol?    Is that a backing for the county seal?

I think that is cardboard taped over the actual seal. The tape is the slices you are seeing.

I dunno, I still think it's a great big pie. Preferably apple!

Nice to see they resurfaced Huron.

Bingo. The Seals won't be unveiled until the end of the week.

It is amazing to see the color difference between the washed panels on the right and the reinstalled panels on the left (in mrclifton88's picture).  Also, the new plaza will have a mix of concrete (seen in the picture) and two colors of pavers, black and gray.  It extends from Huron to past the front door of the new County admin building.

Can't wait until they open up the 2 additional lanes on E 9th street that were closed for construction (they recently closed 1 more lane in the last week or so).

The 9 is brightening East Ninth Street in an unexpected way

Blog Entry: June 23, 2014 7:18 AM    |    Author: STAN BULLARD

In addition to adding action to the long-dead East Ninth Street block occupied by the former Ameritrust complex as it’s recast to The 9 and a new Cuyahoga County headquarters building, Geis Cos. is adding light — in the form of massive digital billboards.

The 50-foot by 50-foot high resolution LED signs stretch over several floors of the northwest and southwest corners of the eight-story parking garage between Prospect Avenue and Bolivar Road on East Ninth Street that developers Greg and Fred Geis bought with the old banking complex.

The sign on the southwest corner was tested Friday, June 20, and will go live within the week. The other one has been going awhile, according to Keith Halfmann, chief operating office of Geis Hospitality Group.

Plans call for promoting the mixed-use 9’s tenants such as Heinen’s, the Autograph Hotel and its Azure rooftop bar — as well as all the different businesses there, which also total nine, Halfmann said. Groups having meetings at the hotel will get mentions, but the billboards will not be available for third-party sale.

I just wish they had replaced the curbs too.. they are in bad shape.

Confirmed. Did a close up inspection early yesterday evening. the "pie slices" are actually bands holding the cover in place

^ That's good to hear. At first, I thought Cuyahoga County was changing its logo to something similar to Greendale Community College's logo

This would be more appropriate:

Update on some of the amenities of The 9:

"Lesser-known details about the project include a theatre to be used for a variety of shows, including comedy and movies, all of which will be open to the public.

Tenants will have access to their very own indoor dog park -- on the 29th floor! -- complete with faux grass and an irrigation system to keep the facility fresh and clean, says Tom Charek, project manager at Geis."

The indoor dog park could be a game-changer for a certain segment of the market.

Park update from today... lots of trees going in.

Cornice is going up on 1010.  Sorry for the lousy resolution.

So they are not restoring the tree canopy art?

No. It is not coming back. You can see it stored on the second level of the 2 story garage next to the 8 story garage at the corner.

Right. I have seen them there. I presumed (perhaps even read) that they were being stored there until the construction was was complete enough for them to be replaced. So if they are not being placed back in the plaza, what will become of them?

I don't see anything...

What's this about an "Autograph Hotel?"  I thought it's to be a Metropolitan Hotel....

  :?

It's also time to change those non-working light fixtures along Huron to uniform lighting - the type around the tringle is okay even if cliched.

Pictures taken yesterday. Beautiful sunny day, everything looking awesome ......

Thank you for sharing a great set of photos

The new county headquarters has grown on me, now i like how it looks.

Does anyone know if they're going to polish the black granite? The power washing did wonders but the dull finish to the granite is distracting.

Other than that though this project is turning out great. I can't wait to see it in person and check out the Heinen's when it opens.

Great set of pictures!  Since I currently do not live in Cleveland I appreciate any and all pictures posted to the threads.  That being said, thanks for not "instagramming" them. :-)

Great set of a true color photographic update!  Thanks.

Yes, thanks for the non-Instagrammed photos!!!

I appreciate everyone's photos and am happy to see some photographic proof of this 1010 Euclid cornice.  That building will finally stop looking like its had fell off.
