It will be additional seating for those eating prepared foods, sushi, salad bar, grill, etc, just like the seating under the rotunda. Tables will be in place mid-next week.
July 1, 20159 yr ^^I have no problem with the seating, and in fact welcome it. It pumps even more life into this most important corner. Outdoor seating is the norm at urban supermarkets these days (just look at Constantino's in both the WHD and UC/Uptown). It also enhances this new Heinen's image as being more than just a supermarket, but as an "it" gathering place, as well.... And as for pinched sidewalks, take a look at Philly all over Center City with al fresco seating. For this 50 or 60 feet, I'll take it.

July 2, 20159 yr I don't recall any beggars bothering people at Cadillac Ranch and haven't heard any anecdotes from Pure Vida regulars, and both have similar patios.

July 2, 20159 yr Such an odd comment. Sidewalk dining is extremely common all over, including in Cleveland. I'm not sure how this would be any bit different than the dozens of other sidewalk dining areas.

Even then, I've only seen that issue arise once or twice.

A few months ago I showed photos of the Food Hall at the Harrod's flagship store in London. The Streetsboro-based builders and developers recently assumed management of The New York Spaghetti House, a one-time landmark restaurant at 2173 E. Ninth St. and the parking lot next door to it, a prized location near Progressive Field. The properties abut the south side of the garage on East Ninth that serves Geis’ The 9, the mixed-use office, hotel, apartment and retail complex between Euclid and Prospect Avenues. Asked what Geis’ plans are for the property, Greg Geis had a surprising answer in an email. “Just the property manager,” Greg Geis wrote, adding in a subsequent email that neither he nor brother Fred Geis has an ownership stake in Spaghetti House. The answer was a surprise, as Downtown Investment Group LLC lists to the family-owned development and construction concern’s address in Streetsboro, where tax bills will also be sent. Greg Geis said he does not know of plans for the long-empty building. He did not respond to question’s about the identity of the client. The seller was R. I live right around the corner from there and quite often have seen ads on the boards that have nothing to do with the 9 complex, which I had thought was prohibited. I just assumed they eventually got some permission from the city for it. Guess not...

It is a bit sad that it took the RNC to get some of these things done around the city. But at least we'll be able to benefit from the upgrades, fixes, repairs, cleanings, etc after the RNC has come and gone.

I found that very odd That was part of the huge hype when that place opened. Anyone know what happened there?
October 21, 20168 yr My mom lives in the building. She said between Azure and Vault it was getting a little crazy and they decided to close Vault while they reevaluate. Vault may reopen as something different.

June 5, 20178 yr A couple of weeks ago some friends from out of town were staying at The 9 after a wedding. We went back with them for a few drinks (in the Vault & Azure). I never got to see the Vault previously as a nightclub, but it was nice to see it now and we actually got a tour of some of the rooms that weren't "officially" open yet. Crazy how many vaults were actually in the old bank!!!
