Posted September 10, 200915 yr Visited a friend who lives at Parker Flats on 4th St. and Central to check out the Bengals game: Public Transportation for the win: Went to Riverfest for the first time. Usually get stuck working this day and as a kid my parents always said it was too crowded to go down to it. So I went this year: The crowd wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, but these Redneck Gargoyles had picked out their spots well before anyone else: To actually watch the fireworks we went to everyone's favorite abandoned brewery: Had a nice view: But... ...This is about all we could see. Every now and then we got a good one: Overall the fireworks were pretty disappointing, I understand the event is usually much bigger and better than it was this year. Oh well, heres to next year. September 10, 200915 yr Excellent pictures! Parker Flats looks great, but I don't understand why you and Sherman keep saying the fireworks were disappointing when you were viewing them from way out in Queensgate. They shoot them off on the eastern side of the downtown riverfront and you guys were way on the west side on the other side of downtown. You probably couldn't see any of the low fireworks or, my personal favorite, the waterfalls off the bridges.

I explained it more on the website and we realized our vantage point sucked, but we just felt the whole thing was kind of short and judging from what others said it was really scaled back and toned down from past years. I think next year I'm gonna need to find a much better place to photograph them from.
September 10, 200915 yr I don't know if it was all that much smaller than past years. What I do know is that there were a lot more ground effects than high-flying shells. The biggest problem with the show was that the air was stagnant; there were a lot of fireworks that I just couldn't see because of the lingering smoke, and I was just behind the serpentine wall. The finale was a waste to anyone on the north side of the river, you just couldn't see any of it. See the pictures at the bottom here.
