Posted July 16, 200420 yr Cleveland's would be the Case Weatherhead School of Business (even with the tacky "Peter B Lewis" nametag on it). Hands down. http://www.jwaynephoto.com/graphics/book/01.jpg"> http://www.wcpn.org/images/PHOTOS/around-noon/gehry/gehry-5.jpg"> http://www.universitycircle.org/content/PBL-1.jpg"> http://www.wcpn.org/images/PHOTOS/around-noon/gehry/gehry-4.jpg"> http://members.tripod.com/clevelandphoto/photo_gallery/members/rynes_ed/Rynes11.jpg"> http://www.cwru.edu/pubs/cwrumag/fall2002/features/landmark/images/pbl1.jpg"> http://www.clevelandartsprize.org/images/1990_speccit_lewis_b.jpg"> http://www.clevelandartsprize.org/images/1990_speccit_lewis_d.jpg"> http://www.clevelandartsprize.org/images/1990_speccit_lewis_e.jpg"> http://www.clevelandartsprize.org/images/1990_speccit_lewis_c.jpg"> http://www.clevelandartsprize.org/images/1990_speccit_lewis_i.jpg"> http://www.clevelandartsprize.org/images/1990_speccit_lewis_m.jpg"> I dont think the pictures do it justice Its funny how the Art School building is next to it in this 60 year old modest international style building and the business school is this building/sculpture thing. i thought cleveland was trying to cater to the creative class?
July 19, 200420 yr Yep, Cincy has the Vontz Center for Molecular Studies, designed by Gehry: http://www.bluffton.edu/~sullivanm/gehrycin/eastsoutheast.jpg clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
July 19, 200420 yr I hate the Vontz Center. It's fucked up for the sake of being fucked up. Sorry, I just don't dig Gehry. I nominate my house for this thread. It's a brick ranch house built in 1957 which looks similar to every other house within a 1 mile radius. P.S> To be serious I like the CAC and I think the city could use a shake-up like that. But damn, there are so many great works under 12 floors that I wouldn't know where to start. I'm not trying to say that those of you in other cities don't face the same dilemma--I'm just saying I can't bring myself to choose.
July 19, 200420 yr oh shit that thing is ugly see with Gehry he needs to go all out, or dont do it at all. otherwise it doesnt look right, like the thing in Chicago's Millenium Park as well, very ugly.
July 28, 200420 yr Here are a couple of shots of the Vontz Center for Molecular Studies by Gehry for what it is worth It's next to Kingsgate, a hotel and conference center which belongs to U.C.'s medical campus. These are not my favorites though. I shall have to give this further thought. Most of my favorites are more than 12 stories.
July 28, 200420 yr ^Take that Frank Gehry. I don't disagree though. It looks like it was designed by Dali. I do like that fountain and the landscaping in front of the Kingsgate Center. The buildings are pedestrian, but the setting is nice. That whole medical center area is a tangled jumble except for that grouping along MLK Drive. Sorry to digress from the topic. I'm stalling because I haven't come up with a favorite under 12 stories yet. There are many candidates, but I can see something wrong with all of them.
March 22, 200520 yr So if Indiana doesn't count, can Wisconsin count? Or is this club just for Ohio kids? Because Milwaukee has some pretty fabulous old-school and new-school low-rises... Old: Mitchell Building New: Milwaukee Art Museum
March 23, 200520 yr Of course Milwaukee counts. Lovely buildings! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
