September 15, 200915 yr Awesome! Baltimore is sick, but a little rough around the edges, and I've never been to Philly but it looks pretty awesome too.
September 15, 200915 yr Boerum Hill/Carroll Gardens has changed so much. When I lived down there, there was virtually nothing on Smith Street. There weren't many stores and virtually no restaurants. Back then people shopped on Court St. Now Smith St is very competitive in offerings.

Baltimore is sick, but a little rough around the edges, and I've never been to Philly but it looks pretty awesome too. You shoulda' seen it thirty years ago. September 20, 200915 yr Baltimore has wonderful architecture and has seen a lot of investment around the waterfront. When I lived there, it seemed like it was attractive and relatively safe between St. Paul St. and Charles St. eventually extending west and south of the harbor. The first day of summer always had a strange feeling in Baltimore. Such a pretty town, though.
September 20, 200915 yr Baltimore looks beautiful in these shots. Hopefully I'll be able to visit this fall as I have planned.
September 21, 200915 yr My parents were recently in Baltimore and were basically told always stay within visual of the harbor. Apparently, it is a pretty rough town. Even Johns Hopkins is supposedly not in the best of neighborhoods. It don't know if that is all true but if it is, it's a shame b/c Baltimore has some wonderful architecture and building stock. John Hopkins is in a wonderful neighborhood (Charles Village). Most of Baltimore is "fine," it's just the large swath of the westside (Sandtown) and parts of the eastside (north of Broadway Market) that are "bad." But Fells Point, Mt. Vernon Square, Roland Heights, Federal Hill, Charles Village, Greektown, Little Italy, blah blah are all fine. September 21, 200915 yr niiice. i love that baltimore got more. i really like the philly skyline. the new comcast tower adds perfect balance, at least from that great view. although, um, carroll gardens dont go hard anything, but i was in red hook last night -- they still go hard son!!! *** rob i love those those old b'more shots. that was pre inner harbor redevelopment and we visited around that time (early 80's?), i remember that grit.
September 23, 200915 yr That Baltimore library shot makes me think of the old library in Cincy except that it is self-serve.
