I took some pics today of the 525 Vine Building. The entire lower-level front of this building is being renovated. The building is across the street from Fountain Square near Tiffany's. Sorry about the renderings, I used the camera on my phone! ;)

Is the first floor going to be retail?  What was on the first floor before?

The only thing on the first floor was a very small bank branch.

I'm not sure if there will be retail or not. I didn't notice any in these renderings. Although, if there is going to be retail they probably wouldn't be in these renderings. The new look is going to a 100% improvement however.

I thought Brooks Brothers was on the first floor along with Tiffany's.

^ Brooks Brothers and Tiffany's are in the same building as Lazarus.  525 Vine is the building next door

Why is the bottom so different from the rest of the place.  None of it matches which seems to be a theme for architecture in this city lately.

This little blurb appeared in yesterday's paper.  Nice get.

DOWNTOWN JOS. A BANK CLOTHING PLANS NEW STORE SITE

Men's clothing retailer Jos. A. Bank will open a store this summer in the 525 Vine building across from Fountain Square. The 4,000-square-foot store is being built as part of the $5 million renovation being made to the building by McKnight Development Co. The retailer, which carries a range of business wear, sportswear and formal attire for men, also has stores in Kenwood and Rookwood.

Seriously, CincyRise, does light gray match brown?  That is what they have done there.  It just doesn't work.  I am glad for the new retail, however.  That is great.

I work in 525 Vine.  I agree, the new lobby doesn't match the rest of the building at all.  I guess they're hoping that from street level, nobody will look higher than the 2-3 story lobby.  And from a distance, nobody will be able to see the lobby, just the upper floors... At any rate, it is a vast improvement over the old lobby which was overshadowed by the skywalk and had only one escalator (up).  It is a shame that they lost Paula's deli.  Though you can still find her unmatched reuben at Findlay Market.

Looks good. I like Joseph A. Bank's stuff.

525 Vine shows off new look

THE ENQUIRER

September 5, 2006

CINCINNATI - The rebuilt 23-story 525 Vine building near Fountain Square will be unveiled Wednesday.

Former Cincinnati Mayor Charlie Luken will host the ribbon-cutting at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. McKnight Development Co. of Pittsburgh has invested $6 million in the office building since buying it two years ago.

The building had been a part of downtown's skywalk system. The skywalk and escalator that were in front of the building have been torn down.

Probably safe to move this one to Completed Projects.
