NO - OctoPierogi!

Looks like the lighting on the exterior is almost done and we have curtains! I hope we get a giant horseshoe on the roof soon!  Sorry for the blurriness, I was running to the train.

BTW, the owner of Jakes, at the corner of Ontario and South Roadway, says he's going to stay open 24 hours after the casino opens. I think that is awesome, and that it will also be of great benefit to transit passengers making transfers at Public Square during the overnight hours, as well as to downtown residents and party-goers from East 4th.

I hope more downtown places will open 24 hours after the casino opens, such as a coffee shop or a CVS.

FWIW..... Gilbert was speaking about the casino during the Cavs telecast last night.  He sounded as if both the opening date for Phase 1 and going forward with Phase II were certainties.

Thanks, Clevecane for the photos!  Do the orange curtains really glow like that at night?  I hope so! From the photos I think it looks pretty awesome.  A nifty way to bring a warm, luxe color to the nightscape.

Excuse, excuses.  They've been in the same spot for 50 years.

You'll need to retake the Cleveland test, to acquire a "Clevelander" learners permit.

Never heard of Slyman's...Puh-lease! You should be beaten, with a cane, by MayDay after food and sex has been withheld from him for more than three days!

very cool..Did you take any photo?

It was not appropriate at the time, they only had four or five up as of 2:00 PM

I always thought a variety of national flags on those flagposts would look awesome.  Are they going to be the horseshoe flags from the renderings?

oh ok thanks.

I never had Slymans. Where is it located?

Since no one actually answered you... it's on the corner of St. Clair and E. 31.  It's absolutely amazing.  Anyone worried about cornbeef rivalries between Jake's, Corky's, and the further away but still integral to Cleveland fabric Slyman's?

And Strap, the curtains do indeed "glow," it's almost unbelievable how lively it feels even when there is absolutely no one else in the area.  It looks even better from Prospect by the Tilted Kilt.  I'll try to get a picture, but I'll be at a conference out of town till next week so it'll be a while  :-(

The curtains look awesome and the glow from the casino is pretty impressive. My only small gripe is that the curtains don't appear to be quite as transparent as I was originally led to believe. In the beginning, they really made it sound like you would be able to see the casino patrons from street level through the curtains. Now I'm not so sure that will be the case.  I think they're a tad too thick. Still, I like the glow and I think they make the Higbee building really look cool.

^No casino is going to allow you to peek in and see the patrons from the street.  If I were a casino patron, that would make me uncomfortable.  My vices need privacy! :-)

Thank you very much. When I lived in Cleveland I never spent much time in that area. I'll be up soon to visit my family so I'll try to check it out. Very excited about this casino opening...

Yes that would be creepy...I like to be in my nice little safe corner and when I hit that mega jackpot I'll make a loud celebration noise causing the other patrons to look around and wonder where the celebration is coming from.

First time posting here, but love the site. I wanted to share a photo I hastily took around 11:00am this morning as the sign was going up at the casino. I wasn't sure if he was adjusting it or putting it up for the first time, but he was hanging the "NO" part as I first approached. So I circled the block to snap this photo from my view on Prospect Ave. Here it is:

I really dig the layout of the buildings  around there....there's a real "big-city-density" look about it.

Welcome to the forum Luckout!!

They were attaching  the Prospect Ave side sign by the flag poles when I walked by earlier:)

Dan Gilbert's plans for a casino overlooking the Cuyahoga River: Whatever happened to?

Whatever happened to Dan Gilbert's plans for a casino on the east bank of the Cuyahoga River? Rock Ohio Caesars remains committed to building what is referred to as the second phase of the casino in downtown Cleveland, said Jennifer Kulczycki, spokeswoman for the joint venture headed by Gilbert.

* Phase ...lol

Awnings are going up.  No pics as I forgot my phone, but they look pretty much exactly like the renderings.

Also, they removed the scrolling LED from the PS side of the building and seems like they are working on the canopy there as well.

May 15th is going to be here sooner than we think.

Correction: Opening Day is May 14th :-)

The Casino is coming along very nicely....

That golden glow others discussed earlier is AWESOME! Very nice job on the lighting. Really changes everything about how this block looks

Amazing!

Nice!

Awesome! Shows what lighting can do!

That is really stunning.

That building is on FIRE!

Thanks for the pictures!  The lighting looks awesome.  Hopefully, it'll inspire more bold lighting around PS.

Anybody have an idea what the minimums on the table games are going to be?  Here in Philly, both Sugarhouse and Parx are $25, which, imo, is way too high.

Higbee's looks great. But my biggest concern over the last year has been the lack of improvements to the surrounding area. The city has had a year and has done virtually nothing to the streetscape. And I am talking minor things such as updated street lamps, traffic signals, street signs. Old concrete, broken curbs, outdated trash bins, 30 year old bus shelters. As least restripe the roads and paint new crosswalks. I am hoping as the revenue starts rolling in we will see some movement, because right now it's just embarrassing. And btw outside of the improvement at the entrance to TC, Forest City has done very little. But I expect that from them.

Agree on most, but to be fair Forest City did do a nice restoration on the Terminal Tower complex..  Im guessing the city didnt have the funds to do much, but hopefully as you said, once new revenue comes in there will be some upgrades happening.

I love that view, and I hope they do too, and scrap thier plan for a skywalk after the historic tax credits expire.
