Posted September 17, 200915 yr I couldn't find it anywhere on this board, so I am asking here. I am trying to find local architectural salvage places here in Cincinnati. I have checked out the wooden nickel, but they have mostly late 19th century, very early 20th century items. My house is a 1920 Craftsman. The person who owned it before me remodeled some parts of the house to be way too modern (really weird stuff that doesn't go with the house at all), and I am looking for a salvage place in hopes of restoring some of the craftsman look to the interior especially. Anybody have some ideas? I googled a bit and could only find restoration remodelers, and the Scioto salvage place in Chillicothe. Thanks in advance :-)
September 17, 200915 yr while we're on this topic, anyone know any good wooden window restorers? My house ins 1873 with original (or nearly) oversized windows. I want to keep them. Some have been repaired (new wooden pieces patched in. I need some similar type work on 2 more windows, and don't want to do an ameture job myself.
September 18, 200915 yr If you don't mind driving to Indianapolis, White River Salvage, http://www.whiteriversalvage.com/ They have a huge salvage operation and they have craftsman era pieces including doors, door locks, columns, restored craftsman lighting and usually some built ins. Be prepared to make a day of it its a huge operation but you can find a lot of craftsman era items. While you are up I would suggest checking out the Meridian Park Historic District which has some great craftsman homes.
February 24, 201015 yr wow...White River Salvage looks like it's got quite the selection. Pretty expensive stuff, but it looks like they're really good at what they do. I'd love to restore my craftsman, it'll take many years to reverse some of the changes that have occurred. Some of them are irreparable.
