Marengo is just off of I-71 in Morrow County and has a pretty large downtown for having a population of 297. Even so, it won't win any beauty awards.

WTF is up with this place?  Offensive stereotyping as marketing?  Why are the Mexican and the cowboy stubbing out their cigars on the Chinese guy's head while simultaneously standing on his feet?

Enchiladito's

1 West Walnut St

Marengo, OH 43334

About Us

Enchiladitos focuses on providing the best food in it's three primary areas: Mexican, Chinese, and American cuisine. Top chefs in each area have specialized the foods to give them a unique and delicious taste.

Quick, someone call Bravo and let them know they missed some "top chefs" for this season's show.

We cook almost every food that there is to make. If you're in the mood for it-then we'll cook it up for ya.

Sorry but "ya" makes me think of Sarah Palin, and that's not a good thing

Who We Are

Enchiladitos was founded by Wennie and Rod Earwood in Marengo, Ohio. They sought to fill a much needed niche in the small community of Marengo by providing exotic foods one doesn't normally see in the area. Wennie having a doctorate in food chemicals and Rod one in engineering provided the foundation (both literally and figuratively) for creating a new restaurant.

A doctorate in "food chemicals" doesn't sound much like a positive thing to publicize

They brought in a chef directly from Mexico to develop their Mexican cuisine and give it a genuine Mexican taste to it. From Indonesia they brought in a top chef to help master their Oriental selection. Both chefs provided their expertise to provide a fantastic menu with some of the best items both cuisines have to offer.

"chef directly from Mexico"?  Someone call INS...

Lastly, to appeal to all those that didn't like either style of food, they provided their own cooking skills to also provide a classical American aspect to the menu-increasing the diversity as well as making a great amount of people happy with their delicious hamburgers.

Enchiladitos provides all sorts of foods for you to try, so please be sure to stop on by and test our food out. We're keeping the grill hot just for you!

Marengo is unusual....and ugly.  I remember driving through years ago.  The name sounds like it should be on another planet.  Gort marengo!  But not everywhere can be Paris.

I thougth the same when I saw that photo of the restaurant painting.  WOW!  That would last about a nano-second anywhere else!  And the article make it worse!!! They need to work on their marketing. While the food may be good, even great...the sign is too much.  Not only are the two "occidentals" stamping out their cigars on his hat, but the Chinese-looking guy is 1/2 the size!  How subtle.

I just hope the article is tongue in cheek, and not foot in mouth.

Most of the small towns in Ohio are pretty cute, there has to be an exception or two.  Looks like this is one of them. The white house with the great bay windows is a show stealer.

It appears that the Asian guy is standing behind the two guys in the front... Maybe he was going to approach them with some ancient wisdom to help settle their differences at the Alamo.

It's not hard to visualize what a "slaw dog" might be, but it's pretty hard to visualize me attempting to eat one. :|

Well, there it is.

Too bad about the tacked on steps.

I was going to post that really bad web copy and a cringe worthy exterior mural do not make a bad product, necessarily, but the reviews I managed to dig up of the place were pretty bad. It's like they try to do everything and don't do any one thing (except maybe burgers and dogs) that well.

These reactions are priceless. :D As far as Enchiladitos, we did eat there and it actually exceeded our expectations. Food was acceptable (although the kids menu has hotdog tacos, yeah I know), service was friendly and since we ordered every type of food the conclusion we came to was that you're best off sticking to the American and Mexican menus. Just FYI if you ever find yourself in Marengo.

welcome to marengo, a perfect place to tear down and start over.

now that you got that pit, er pitstop out of your system can you get back to the columbus neighborhoods please?!!  :whip:

Lotta food for a few people.

Marengo Country Market has the same owner as The Hills Market in Columbus.

Looks like Pizza to Go is gone...

Those slawdogs don't sound half bad though.

Slaw dogs are a common southern thing. I prefer Chicago style.

Before seeing this thread, I thought Marengo just consisted of a gas station and Lion's Den  :-D

The Lion's Den is also referred to as the "Marengo Library".

Oh I loved Marengo everyone was so sweet and friendly. We were accidentally over charged at Enchiladitos  while they were trainning a new employee. Because they had our contact information from our to-go order they called and brought the money to us with an appetizer and apologized! We were actually really impressed by the food as well! It was great!
