Downtown Williamsport is very photogenic at night.

Here are some various night shots I have taken.

Some music to set the mood:

I wanted to photograph Downtown's newest edition.  The new Holiday Inn Express was finished this week and at night has some nice LED accent lighting.  The weather was perfect and it turned out to be an enjoyable night.

I-180:

The new hotel:

I had to get a shot of the Market Street bridge:

The dike is getting graded and paved, hence the gravel.  It's part of the Riverwalk Project that will be completed in late October.

There is more info about it in my Williamsport Developments thread.

The walkway ramp from the bridge to the Riverwalk:

Reflective Rails:

Traffic whizzing on I-180 under Market Street:

On the bridge.  I think the walkway is ten feet wide.

Wide enough for two bikes and people side-by-side:

Requisite traffic blur:

New and old.  New Holiday Inn in the center, and the still grand Genetti on the right:

I loved the lighting in this one:

I don't know.  I like the hotel.

And I'll end it with my newest HDR:

Neat shots!

The bridge is a nice piece of design, especially for a smaller city.

I look forward to LED lighting becoming more widespread in outdoor applications. Locally the public library's outdoor plaza is lit with LEDs that give a really nice effect, especially on snowy nights. For the most part, though, we have a hodge-podge of standard industrial-type lighting with color casts ranging from yucky yellow to ghastly green. It makes decent night photography really difficult because it's impossible to simultaneously color-balance for all the different lighting sources in a scene.

Excellent work with HDR on the final pic.

Rob, I love that bridge.  And you're right, it is definitely nice for the size of Williamsport.  It gives Williamsport sort of a "big city" feel while driving over it.

And yeah, LED lighting is getting really popular, and I really don't see it being a tacky thing.  Some people may see it that way, but I feel that if it's used in moderation, it could be a great aesthetic enhancement to any town or city.  I wish they would install a system on the bridge piers though. Since the riverwalk will be finished soon, and I know many people will use it, LED lighting on the bridge would make twilight strolling much more enjoyable than it already is.

woah, those nightshots are badazz. i am always in awe of nightshots because they are tough going.

i was going to pick fourth down from the top as my fav (the walkway) until the very last shot. niiice.

i'll take a, um, shot in the dark here, but looking at those i kept thinking of the novel super-cannes, so if you're a fiction reader i have a feeling you might be a big j.g. ballard fan. from wiki:

The literary distinctiveness of his work has given rise to the adjective "Ballardian," defined by the Collins English Dictionary as “resembling or suggestive of the conditions described in J. G. Ballard’s novels and stories, especially dystopian modernity, bleak man-made landscapes and the psychological effects of technological, social or environmental developments.”

Genetti Hotel at 4th and William Streets:

I-180 taken from the Market Street Bridge.  They had construction barrels set up to close the ramps to the bridge on the 4th. Every July 4th, they set off the fireworks from the bridge:

I know some of these have been posted elsewhere, but this is Market Street/US15 going south over the bridge:

5/14/2010:

Some friends and I were doing a shoot of their cars on a parking deck and we decided to take a break from the cars and take in the views:

Very clean!

From what I see, it seems to look very similar to Massillon, Ohio.

Not too familiar with Massillon, and ink's older thread wouldn't load for me.  So, I'll take your word for it!

Still considered being a Downtown night shot, here's a photo of my friend's Z with the Genetti hotel in the background:

And one more.  I promise, this won't go off topic!  :-P

This is the recently renovated/rebuilt Holiday Inn with the year old Holiday Inn Express to the left:

A new barbecue that opened up in April. Some of the best pulled pork in the area:

Holiday Inn has been doing that color scheme lately for many of their newly renovated properties and I like it!

Yeah me too.  The original building looked so ugly compared to how it looks now.  They re-cladded everything and once they put those lights up it looked awesome.

these are great. highways, cars, stark nightshots, anonimity...you are just forcing me to watch cronenberg's 'crash' again!

Just added some music to enhance the viewing experience. Once it warms up a bit I'll be out taking some more night shots.
