Just wondered if this was posted here anywhere?

I think the original name of W25th was Pearl St. I would like to see it go back to that name. That would be cool.

^ Would be nice...instead of the number. I agree.

Nice video EC.

Most all of Cleveland's historic street names were changed between 1905 and 1906.  W. 25th was indeed Pearl Street (and it still is Pearl once you get south of 71).  Some of the other notables include W. 9th St = Water Street, W. 6th St = Bank St., Euclid Ave = Buffalo Rd. (Because it lead to Buffalo), E. 4th St. =  Sherriff St., E. 6th St = Bond St. (North of Euclid) & Miami St. (From Prospect to Bolivar), E. 9th St =  Erie St.... and on and on... I'd LOVE it if we brought those names back, at least in the core...

at any rate... VERY cool video, thanks for posting.

I agree totally.. I would love to see these names come back to the core. They add character and identity. Why were they changed to numbers, anyway?

Ease of navigation.  The same reason there are numbered streets in cities all around the country.

I happen to like the numbered streets.  It is really handy when I have friends and family in town... it makes explaining where we are, where we are going, and how long it will take to get there much easier.  These numbered streets also take on a character of their own (see East 4th).  It's not the name of the street that defines it's character or makes it any more or less recognizable IMO.

great video, very well done and inviting. love the announcer's accent too, heh.

and good find on the streetnames/address changes website, too!

Nice video...yet no mention/emphasis on the rapid transit station!
