I don't mind a hotel (I live in South Clintonville - I could see my out-of-town visitors using it) and now there's retail on the first floor. I just hope the gated parking gets shifted to the back.

100%, I live walking distance to this and don’t care if it’s a hotel. I just don’t want an ugly metal fence and parking lot along the sidewalk. This isn’t the suburbs.

Is this possible due to the new zoning laws? Just surprised it's allowed in the area, tbh, lol.

I’m pretty sure they would have to get a variance to add the fence and have parking in the front.

I sent an email saying I was opposed and it seems a lot of other people did. Once it comes to the commission, you might want to send an email also.

A Hyatt Studios hotel seems much more aligned to this developer team/more realistic than their original note of an "upscale lifestyle brand." It's essentially a step below a Hyatt House.

Yikes, so the north st did will also be off the sidewalk?? Hahahaha this is a joke and I hope the commission doesn’t even entertain this crap.

100% agreed. This seems fitting to the developer, but not to the location.

I really hope the commission pushes back against anything this bland. At a minimum, it needs to not have a surface lot facing High Street - in fact, the developer's argument that the parking lot would be a buffer against "High Street crime" doesn't even make any sense, wouldn't you want the cars further away from the "crime" anyways?

This site currently creates a really big divide between Clintonville and Old North - a hotel won't bridge that gap that well, but it can be done in a way that doesn't perpetuate the two neighborhoods having a huge divide between their respective business districts.

On a positive note, the hotel project still hasn’t been submitted to the university commission, so that’s awesome

I’m excited to see the space in spring and summer. I wish we could see some apartments added behind the commercial space along summit.

Any hope that a potential new Taco Bell at Olentangy and Ackerman will give way to redevelopment of High and Hudson has been dashed. They are gutting and renovating the existing one.

I remember when that was a Zantigos and Super Duper was across the street. 😬

Yeah, I saw this yesterday and was sad, I thought for sure it would slowly go away. Just because they are renovating doesn’t really mean it doesn’t have a change to close with the new one going in.

This historically has been an incredibly important Taco Bell for tens of thousands of people over the years.

Zantigos all day long for me. I miss that. 🤤

A permit for 100 W Oakland Ave was just submitted for a preliminary site plan. Nothing huge, but nice to see more infill coming!

The existing site area is .30 acre +/-; and contains a 14-unit apartment building and associated parking. A variance (CV20-086) permit on additional 6 units for a total of 20 dwelling units. The proposed work consists of demolishing the existing building and building a 2-story; 19 dwelling units. Parking underground with 15 spaces (one is a Van Accessible) and 3 on grade.

The old apartment building has been demolished and the site fenced off. Hopefully this gets rolling soon.
