Posted October 7, 200915 yr Northside Saint. Louis These are photos taken from last summer... MLK Neighborhood: Old N. St. Louis Live music!! here's a really cool ice cream/ candy store... St. Louis Place
October 7, 200915 yr Nice photo series. That picture of the weeds growing around the parking meters is just bizarre. Apparently the meter maids are too lazy to call code enforcement?
October 7, 200915 yr Thank you much! The residential sections seem to be much better off than the commercial, but the live music, candy store, PBR, and farmers' market are good signs that some potential could be realized on this corridor.
October 7, 200915 yr yep 14th street mall is becoming crown square http://www.onsl.org/crown-square/ check out the site a bit, i had the pleasure of working for these guys when i was in st. louis, and i loved it
October 7, 200915 yr North St. Louis has had a rough go........ And to think of what it was depicted like in "Meet Me in St. Louis" as its former gorgeous self.... At any rate, my parents were telling me there's this developer who's been buying up tons of vacant lots for the last several years and is planning this huge (like 4 square miles) re-development of North St. Louis (see http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/business/stories.nsf/story/A11397A4311F416C86257628000B2B0A?OpenDocument). I'm not sure what to think about that whole pipe dream at this point.....
October 7, 200915 yr It's got a Jive about the place... "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 7, 200915 yr Gritty put picturesque...reminds me of some areas of Cincinnati like the West End and Avondale around Reading Road and Lexington Avenue-once grand but now quite faded. It will take a lot of new investment to bring parts of St. Louis back. They have lost so much to demolitions and neglect, lets hope what remains can still be saved.
October 7, 200915 yr The four photos above the Old North St. Louis title are actually Tower Grove, which is really central St. Louis.
October 7, 200915 yr ^Everything from the 70's was ugly. You said it, I didn't! To all you peeps born in the 70's, Ink thinks you're fugly!
October 7, 200915 yr The four photos above the Old North St. Louis title are actually Tower Grove, which is really central St. Louis. Yes and no. Those pics were taken in Forest Park Southeast (aka "The Grove"), which is in the central corridor. Tower Grove South and Tower Grove East are two South Side 'hoods.
October 11, 200915 yr good work. is there any news on the old elevated rail line they want to turn into a park?
November 5, 200915 yr North St. Louis has had a rough go........ And to think of what it was depicted like in "Meet Me in St. Louis" as its former gorgeous self.... I'm not sure what to think about that whole pipe dream at this point..... This is one of many examples in St. Loius of developers who are taking a chance and doing redevelopment projects in the city. I am very impressed by the number of developers doing projects in the city..
