Posted October 29, 200915 yr In January, I hit up Touristy St. Louis. In July, I returned and finally explored the real St. Louis, a resurrecting city overloaded with brick. While there is still some work to do in parts of the north side of the city, many parts of the STL are imposing and vibrant. Some of the city's best neighborhoods (ie. Central West End and Lafayette Square) are not even included below; neither are images of the new Citygarden, an engaging sculpture park just completed downtown. Citygarden may be the second most successful interactive public space in the midwest, a close second to Chicago's Millennium Park. STL is certainly becoming a favorite for me. Special thanks to Jeff Vines of STL Style (www.stl-style.com) for the excellent tour! October 29, 200915 yr IMO('s), your best St. Louis thread ever. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 29, 200915 yr Judging from these photos, St. Louis looks like Columbus in a lot of ways. I've only ever spent one day there... but it was a pretty good day! Thanks for sharing! What brought you out this way?
October 29, 200915 yr IMO('s), your best St. Louis thread ever. Damnit, first I wanted toasted ravioli when I read this thread title.... Now I want Imo's salad and pizza too!!!!!
October 29, 200915 yr What was that huge pillar standing by itself? That's the Grand Avenue water tower. Of the 7 remaining historic water towers in the U.S., St. Louis has 3 of them.
October 29, 200915 yr did you get a chance to see the elevated rail line they want to turn into a park like the highline park?
October 29, 200915 yr IMO's IMHO = bad; Morgan Street and Schlafly's = good. However, excessive consumption of Morgan Street and Schlafly products makes IMO's palatable.
October 29, 200915 yr Thanks for the tour. St Louis is looking a lot better than when I last visited. What was that huge pillar standing by itself? That's the Grand Avenue water tower. Of the 7 remaining historic water towers in the U.S., St. Louis has 3 of them. Milwaukee's got the best one. Better than that stupid commercialized one on Chicago. I do like the Compton Hill tower in St Louis though.
