^ And we have now come full circle.  It only took over 90 years to do it.  Next hopefully the E12th/Chester area can continue it's transformation.

I don't quite understanding your first comment.

historic downtown buildings will be transformed into apartments using tax credits

Thursday, July 05, 2012

The State of Ohio has awarded $35.8 million in tax credits to 18 owners who are planning to rehabilitate 44 historic buildings across the state. Two of the projects, the Vincent building and the Truman building, are located in downtown Cleveland.

The Truman building, located on Euclid Avenue between E. 9th and 12th streets, will be renovated to include retail storefronts, office space, 18 market rate apartments and parking. Construction is expected to create at least 50 jobs.

Couple guys hauling more debris out of the Truman Building the past two evenings, with the building lights on throughout.  God let's hope this thing gets fully underway soon.

True. See if they'll work overtime to get something going on Schofield, too.

Hopefully this is good news for Truman.

Awesome! Oh and BTW, since February, the Truman restoration project is underway which puts the uninvited rooftop tree on the endangered species list.

Off topic but funny.

Maybe this one should have it's own Twitter as well.  Located on the backside of the Flatiron Cafe.

The building on star plaza in playhouse square wins. It has TWO trees!

Edit:(Is there anyway the forum could bring back collapsed pictures in quotes? It was better because you didn't have to delete the picture, and it would keep the forum cleaner looking. Plus the picture would still be there for reference which is better than deleting it. )

So exactly when is the estimated completion date for the Truman with the 18 new apartments?

Officially? Unknown. No projected completion date is listed on CRM website (its one of the featured properties -- ironically Schofield is not!):

I saw a front loader (not sure if that's what it's called or not) hauling a large amount of what appeared to be concrete and bricks out of the Truman building the other day. At least they are still making some progress on it.

So the company I intern with has a folder in our projects called "Truman Flats" and as far as I can tell, it was for asbestos abatement, but according to my co-workers the project is still going on.

Fun fact.

Their website, which KJP posted above, states that there will be 26 apartments.

Hadn't seen these renderings yet.

^ Haha, I love that guy taking off his sunglasses!

Where's the tree? :-o

CSI: Cleveland.

Wow, someone's been listening to right-wing-radio lately!

If it is not on college radio, NPR, or Spotify, I don't listen to it

I think Ken was talking about the guy on the roof...

Perhaps, but I know he likes to poke at little ol' me.

It's all cool.

I tried to up load some pics for you but the file is to big I will have to try from a computer

^try a Flickr account and post the IMG link.

I think Flickr has made it more difficult to post images there. You can still do it, but you can't just click on the picture anymore to get different sizes of them. I still think Photobucket is easier, but I don't think they let you post pictures wider/larger than 640p.

I saw plenty of activity going on as I walked by this morning.

I'm not a fan of the Flickr upgrade either.  It's hard to find, but there is actually a share button.  From there you can select BB code and copy and paste it into the body of your message.  It's much easier than right clicking the image and copying the address.

Holy crap, yes.  I'm ecstatic I won't have to explain that to people anymore.

Won't there be a roof terrace up there? I can't wait till the tree returns.  But I won't moss the wrecked facade and empty windows.

I always thought it'd be fitting to keep the tree and properly plant either down on Euclid in front of the building, or better yet on the rooftop (if thats actually happening) like you said.

Strangely enough, it grew better than the ones down on Euclid but comprmised the integrity of the cornice on that 100 year old bldg until this afternoon

You know it

Was there a story behind that tree?
