Locutus of Board was a hoot.  Outrageous, yes, but he did know his suff.  He'd be interesting to have around for the health care debate since he was , I think, a pre-med student.

Memorable threads:

1. KJPs Cleveland history threads, esp that one on the Hough, how dense it was, and the ones on the neighborhoods next to downtown Cleveland.

2. CDawgs thread on how urban renewal devastated a street in downtown Toledo, the one paralleling the river.

3. Robs pre-digital pix of old passenger service. Maybe more of a railfan specialty, though.

I'll add Jeffery's insanely detailed local histories of the physical environment of Greater Dayton. I'm looking forward to the Census data release in a couple years - oh the battles that will ensue.

Happy 5th, UrbanOhio! Congrats, guys, for creating such a successful platform for discussion on all things Ohio.

I think that reading all of your comments and remarks makes me more excited and enthusiastic. And I feel much more informed when going out advocating for Cleveland and other places in the state to common folk.

I've really enjoyed meeting people from the forum, too. I connected with Jar3232 and lewarctj (all of us live in Old Brooklyn in Cleveland), and I think we've fostered solid relationships and have helped each other make strides in improving our neighborhood. That and Jar throws some great parties. I'm appreciative for that opportunity.

On that same note, the Cleveland happy hours have been great. UO people (well, the vast majority of them!) are excellent people, and at every happy hour I've attended has been full of lively conversation in which everyone was included and had something to contribute. We should have more of them.

Lastly, some of you Columbus people have changed my perception of your city from the "Columbus Vegetarian, anyone?" thread. I've had to be in Columbus about eighteen days this year (with another five coming soon), and really enjoy going there now from my experiences being in the city and dining in your restaurants.

Don't you have a lawn to mow?

I hope you mean "don't want to chip my manicure".  Men with long nails gross me out.  Ack.

Yeah...thats it.  I get a weekly pedi & mani!

Only weekly?

Forumers I miss?  The Pope - funny as hell

What happened to "the pope"?

Only weekly?

HUSH!  If I don't go weekly, my nails become pointy like MayDay's!  And being UO's nice Bitch, I can't have that.

He was kidnapped by some freaks and relocated to Chicago.

Five years later and still no sign of those Urbana party girls.

Five years wasted.

Yeah, what was that thread? I remember something about that.  It's funny when an old thread is resurrected and I see some of my early posts.  My life was completely different way, way back in '04!

I believe I'm still facebook friends with The Pope, but he hardly ever posts anything.

I know, it's like he disconnected himself from the matrix.

Awesome.

Yeah, what was that thread? I remember something about that.

I don't remember what the whole thread was about, but Rich listed some of the Google search terms that had led people here, and one of them was "party girls urbana ohio".

I found my way here a few years back while lurking on MayDay's "Cleveland Project Rundown" page on SSP.  At that time, Cleveland projects were being announced with some frequency and MayDay was keeping that page alive by conversing with a single poster who was hitting him with the whole "20 questions" routine.  The Pope apparently got annoyed and starting throwing barbs at the poster for asking too many idiotic questions when he could just go to UrbanOhio and get the answers.

Here's the ironic thing in my mind though.... I always loved skyscrapers and even wanted to design them when I was a kid.  I remember how excited I was as a teen watching the Society Center get built with hopes that the Ameritrust Tower would follow.  But this site has completely turned me off to the idea of supertalls.

Happy 5th! The boyfriends who have mocked my UrbanOhio hobby have come and gone but Urban Ohio is forever.

I will never forget my first meet-up in Cincinnati and "This is PigBoy's sister . . " is just not something you hear eveyday and I for one will never for get it.

Yeah, I miss Montecarlos and the old Grasscat.

MayDay and I are still here and we're much better than a 1,000 Montecarlos', YuccaKitties, and Popes combined!  :P

I'll add Jeffery's insanely detailed local histories of the physical environment of Greater Dayton.

"Insane" was certainly the operative concept for all that.

The lightbulb finally came on and I realized this is just the internet and I was wasting a lot of time & effort on all that Dayton crap here and on that blog I had, wasting it on a place I don't like very much.  Which is pretty crazy when you think about it.

So I'm back to what I was in 2004, an occasional poster here.

^But your efforts were and are greatly appreciated.  I learned a ton about Dayton (and some other places) through your threads.  Your Greenhills thread is still one of my favorites ever on UO.

I'll second that.

Isn't montecarlos still around using a different name?

His name has changed (cincyimages), but he is not around.

JamieC and Vulpster.  I miss those kids!
