The soldiers and sailors were mostly home, the war workers from the rural areas were still there, manufacturing was slammed as the rest of the industrialized world was recovering from the war, and suburbanization hadn't really kicked in yet.
June 3, 20241 yr you wanna fix the schools and some problems with kids today? this has always been my sugeestion -- make year round school and half day saturdays like in japan -- year round is not that big a deal as it sounds, kids go to school the same 180 days, its just divided up differently from traditional summer school as we dont work on farms so much -- as for the saturday mornings ... maintenance would take over teaching and kids would clean, paint, garden and work the grounds -- which builds personal investment and civic responsibility -- that is nothing as radical as it may seem either, it was even done in the past ... Kitchen garden planted and tended by Cleveland school girls, ca. 1906-1912

June 5, 20241 yr ^ I had one when I was a kid in the 70s and I can still taste the plastic. Whatever sort of plastic it was, I’m sure it’s not deemed food safe nowadays. Would develop a lovely interior patina, as various colored liquids were drunk through it. Then the fatal day would come when milk was left in it overnight and that was the end of it. August 22, 2024Aug 22 as usual with this infamous guy the 1980 terminal tower softball drop promo did not go as well as the 1938 baseball drop did — 🙀 The Terminal Tower Softball Incident Publicity events are usually fun, easy going, if a bit corny, gatherings that are supposed to improve the image of a company or organization. However there are times when good intentions are hampered by poor planning and bad timing.
