Cleveland's peregrine falcon perishes after 12 years nesting on the Terminal Tower

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Buckeye, believed to be one of the country's oldest and most prolific peregrine falcons, died last week after apparently striking a building near its urban nest on the Terminal Tower.

I did notice the lack of pigeons and gulls in the area, but never the reason was because of Buckeye.

When I worked on the 50th floor of key tower the falcons used to land on the ledges outside of the windows fairly regularly. Close enough to get a good look at thier beaks and claws. I wouldn't want to be on the recieving end, it looked like they could tear you to shreds.

 

I didn't know they had names. I may be fabricating memories but didn't there used to be a webcam pointed at the falcons roost on Terminal Tower?

 

Too bad. Goodbye Buckeye.

When I was a BP we had pigeon shit all over.  There was another bird downtown at the time, an eagle IIRC.  The Eagle left then buckeye came downtown after he left Forest Hills/UC area.  Also, there was a falcon in the Shaker Lakes area as he scared the swans and geese and they would take up residence on residents lawns.
