I was just wondering if anyone knew what the fees for a delta buddy pass were other than the taxes.

I know they use to charge 25% of the average monthly passenger yield + taxes but that information is based off of 2003 information and was not sure if the pricing structure was still the same.

I'm still waiting on an answer from a friend of a friend but was hoping someone else has some information so I know whether these buddy passes are worth it or not.

It should roughly be 10% of the HIGHEST UNRESTRICTED COACH FARE.  So if thay city pair prices at $500.00, then you would pay $50.00

Thanks :)

For a reference, roundtrip from CVG to TPA is about $100.  Are you aware of the standby priorities and all that?

Very true.  On a buddy pass you may pay $150.00 and your boarding priority is 4.  In other words, paying passengers, deadheading crew/company busines and non-revs would all board before you.  You could get stuck and have to wait a while for another flight or even overnight at your own expense.  Or you could just pay for a ticket for probably not much more and have a gtd seat.

Well I was going to go from CLE to SFO - connecting in CVG. I finally got word from my friend but this is the first time doing this and told me I would just be responsible for taxes, but I have a feeling it might be more than that because round trip it would only be $40 in taxes. I think the only way to find out the exact price is for him to actually go through the checkout process and says hes going to do that by the end of the week, but that is kind of cutting it close with my plans.

I was going to fly on 12/12/09 and return 12/14/09 and so far the plane from CVG to SFO is about half full but I have never flown standby and not sure how quickly these fill up or how many tend to fly with standby tickets.

I was also looking at the reference of a round trip from CVG to TPA being $100. I looked at a round trip flight from CVG to TPA and the taxes and fees would be about $20, so I'm guessing there has to be more to the fees then my buddy has told me.

By any chance do you know roughly how much a round trip flight would be from CVG to SFO on Delta Buddy Pass? I know I can fly from Akron to SFO for around $260 and want to see if I should just tell him to forget it and get me a secure seat. Any more information would be great and thanks for the answers so far.

Please note that if you are looking at an airplanes seat map (for a particular flight) is not an accurate indication of seats available.  Many times people buy tickets and or corporations book seats and hold, but dont select seating at the time of ticketing so the seat map looks open, but in reality the seats are sold, just not assigned.

Yea I decided to just spend just a little more and get a guaranteed seat instead of the hassle, but thanks everyone for the info which will come in handy in the future as well.
