"You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

Lots of company's are jus switching to IE 7, we just switched in late october and were a media company!

We just dual-loaded IE 8 and FF 3 on about 90% of the machines here. It was a mandatory shut-down and update type of process, rather than a "do it on your free time" bit. We were having loads of compatibility issues at work with various applications not running correctly, because users were using IE 6 and not any newer browser, and then complaining when certain items wouldn't load properly.

Not saying IE 8 is a preferred browser (never said that), but it is at the least more CSS/HTML compliant than IE 5.5/6. Still not as compliant as FF 3, Safari or Chrome. The amount of hacks and crap we designers and programmers have to do just to bend over backwards for IE 5.5/6 is just ridiculous.

Well I would HOPE a media company would switch to the "latest" (or semi-latest, in this case) browser.  But in the real world, things don't work out that easily!

Yeah, but he said they "were a media company".  Maybe if they still were, they would have upgraded to IE 8 by now!  :)

Tina, You do know, you'll never win this game.  I'm bigger, I'm smarter and I'm faster. I will always beat you.

new one. leave it as is.

My office computer just got upgraded to IE6 a few months ago. At home I have IE8, FF3 and Opera, but IE8 so filled with bugs that I harldly use it.

The search function no longer stays within the board you initiate it from...which is extremely frustrating.

With most of the bugs stomped out I'd say I'm indifferent.  My only critique would be that the color change to separate the posts in a thread may be too subtle for someone newly discovering the site (it takes some time to adjust to it) depending on their monitor and eyesight.  For me it's fine though.  But I really like the color alternation with the quotes, that looks swell compared to the previous version.

I liked the old one better but only because the background color made the text easier to read.

I've warmed up to the new one.  At first unsure, but I really like it.  Unsure about the slight orange color of the "pinned threads" I think it should be another blue tone.  I like the orange links though.

This board supports formatting for mobile devices.  Why isn't it implemented at the moment?

^Because ColDay would end up wedged into an I-75 overpass pylon while he was posting a 150 photo mega-thread on his way to work.

Or because MTS would simply cease to exist in corporeal form.

Take your pick.

(Actually its a valid question but someone else can answer it better than I could.)

I like the new layout, but it needs a bit of formatting work.  Some of the graphics overlap and it makes it look a bit disjointed.

Are you using IE8? If you are, you might try clicking the compatibility button (just to the right of the URL and just to the left of the refresh button).

As far as the IE6 debate goes...

Basically the only people still using IE6 are people who are stuck using it at work because their companies won't upgrade, or people using ancient computers.  Not just here, but across the internet.

A few years ago, the big debate was whether to kill Netscape 4, because that was the ancient browser holding back the rest of the web.  Now, the debate's whether to kill IE6.

More and more major sites are beginning to drop support for IE6, and in some cases, are actually blocking IE6 users from accessing their sites.  As more major sites that do this, IT departments aren't going to have any other choice but to upgrade.

We've rolled back to the previous version of our forum software.  We plan to stick with this version until the 2.0 final is released.

Cool with me!!!

Chris: Sherman, are you near your computer?

Sherman: No. I'm on the road.

Chris: Do you have your iTouch with you?

Sherman: Yes.

Chris: Check out UrbanOhio! hehehehehe

I texted Chris later that evening, "WTF!!!!!"

The old version is much easier to read.

Old version wins.

Damn it!  I like the new version!

Damn it! I like the new version!

We will upgrade to the new version once it reaches final release. As of now, its a release candidate.

I want a recount!  :speech:

When you become the HNIC, you will.

But until then, take a cue from Bossip.com and "ho sit down!"

Awesome.  Now I can enjoy reading UO again.  The old version is so much easier on the eyes than the new version.

In the downgrading process, did we somehow lose the box to edit your signature in Modify Profile?  I can't find it anywhere.
