Congrats to Cincinnati for making it to the Super Bowl!  I'll definitely be down from Cleveland on Super Bowl Sunday to enjoy the day with you guys, win or lose!

Really don’t know if I’m allowed to do this as a Browns fan… but I have been living vicariously through Joe B, from Athens Ohio High School, and the Cincinnati Bengals this entire postseason.

Congrats to Cincy!  Good luck in the SUPER BOWL!!

This Browns fan is happy we beat the AFC Champs 2x this season!   Good luck in the big show!

Congrats guys. I'll be rooting for you!

Well played Bengals! That stop right on HT changed the momentum of the whole game. Mahomes knew he’d messed up a chance to put the game to bed early and his head went in the second half. That said, the Bengals still needed to get the points and Burrow et al all stepped up superbly.

There was one play in the 4th where Burrow really navigated traffic well despite having to hold on to the ball for a really long time behind the line of scrimmage but still made up for it with a first down (or close to it). I was thinking, "That's the kind of quarterback that gets to go to the Super Bowl"

the cali bowl is over — its gonna be the rams!

And these were the two teams I have been rooting for(since Cleveland was out) and now they are both in. I will be happy for either, and for both for getting there. These last 6 games have been insanely good and entertaining! What a playoffs the last two weeks!!!

Odell picked well also.

Congrats Bengals!  I'll be rooting for you in the SB!

Yeah! Was wearing my Browns winter hat today and several people hi-fived me, thinking it was a Bengals hat haha. I went with it....it felt good :-)

Yeah that screw up on the final play of the first half was all on Mahomes (he tried to call a timeout after the tackle so he clearly just wasn't aware of the circumstances) and the guilt took a toll on him. And then the Bengals came out in the second half with different coverage (dropped 8 into coverage most passing downs, used a spy, etc.) and he never really adjusted to what they were doing. The spy almost ended the game on the last play in regulation - Mahomes inexplicably stood in the pocket for what seemed like 10 seconds, and then danced around and fumbled. Had that ball bounced differently, the Bengals would have won right there.

My favorite stat of the game was Mahomes' QB rating:

First half: 149.9

Second half: 0

The NFL has said no to Cincinnati on hosting a giant watch party at Paul Brown Stadium. Although common in the NBA for instance the NFL has never allowed such a thing.

https://www.wcpo.com/sports/football/bengals/bengals-nfl-says-no-to-super-bowl-watch-party-at-paul-brown-stadium

The city is now planning multiple events that will not involve the stadium.

I'm surprised that the NFL would even want to put the kibosh on such a thing (and it surprises me that they have the right to do so--of course they control the broadcast rights, but I'm surprised the teams and/or stadiums, to the extent those are owned by separate entities, don't have a built-in guaranty of broadcast rights notwithstanding the main organization's general monopoly).

Also, from my snowed-in bunker here in Northeast Ohio, I finally got around to watching the highlights of the Bengals' last two playoff games, and am just looking north towards FirstEnergy Stadium right now thinking, "aha, so that's what life can be like with a decent placekicker."

I think it is about the broadcast rights and how they choose to disseminate them. If they allow a 3rd party like the County to use them it could complicate other matters such as large Churches or other venues like arenas hosting watch parties without NFL consent and more importantly NFL Control.

If the Browns were in the SB, it may not make sense to have a watch party at FirstEnergy but make much more sense to pack 20k into Rocket Mortgage, but at that point does the NFL control all the logistics?? That would be my best guess.

I could imagine the NFL seeing this as a potential revenue maker for the league down the line and can see in a few years the NFL putting on watch parties in the home team stadiums that are much more than just watch parties and those events could generate an additional few million to the league with ticket sales and additional advertising.

Generally speaking the NFL and MLB owners don't have to share revenue for "special events" like concerts and watch parties.   This is why the summer ballpark concerts have gotten into such vogue--the owners have all figured out they are a cash cow and don't have to give the league a cut.   I could totally see the NFL squashing a watch party unless they were cut into the deal.

30k!!! Love it.

Meanwhile on LA sports radio they're saying a Rams victory is absolutely necessary in order to win over the LA market haha.

Pathetic.

Go Bengals!

You guys are playing in the Superbowl TODAY!!!  If I had a can of Skyline, I'd chug it in Ohio solidarity!  I might do it even if you hadn't made the playoffs!

What I'm trying to say is, "somebody send me some Skyline".  Oh, and "Go Bengals!"

I will be watching the game as much as possible, but also booked a trip before the playoffs began and will be in the air prior to the game ending.  😫  So basically, the game will have been over for over 2 hours before we land.  Very hopeful, the pilot will let us know of the Bengals win via the PA!!.

My call is Cincinnati 27 Los Angeles 24

Damn. Bengals offense went ice cold tonight.

Brutal loss for the Ohio team but man they deserve props on a gutty fight and an improbable and memorable season  - congrats Bengals - you deserve major respect.

The officiating at the end of the game was vexing....did Vega$ call it in?

----No false start on the entire Rams O-line?

However,  this happened:

I think they were trying to make up for the missed facemask/offensive pass interference that gave the Bengals one of their touchdowns.

That's the conventional wisdom running around out there today ---- but they threw basically no flags during the game and all of the sudden 4 flags on the Bengals on the Rams' last drive?

barstool? -- one play to get right everybody knows the rules. 😂

geez that is a ridiculous obvious false start on the right tackle.

besides being against the bengals it also really bugs me because i reffed.

The conventional wisdom seems to be leaving out the non call on the facemask that would have taken 7 Cinci points off the board.

Making up a early 2nd half non-call made up with numerous flags during crunch time of a game w. very few flags? Inexplicable

There was also an obvious non-call Jalen Ramsey hold of Tee Higgins in the 1Q that down graded to a Bengals FG taking 4 points off the board.

If you go frame>frame, he only OL that didn't false start I that play was the RG. Watch it again and the OTs moving was visible to the eye.

Should have be 3rd&Goal from +13.

Officiating throughout the playoffs was poor.  Blown calls that had bearings in nearly every game.  It seems like the officiating has been getting worse.

Sadly The Bengals look a mess. The offensive line looks worse than ever before. Can they turn it around? Sure, but yikes. They look weak and totally out of sync.

Let's look on the bright side. I still think this team is a playoff team. They play sloppy in the first half and put it together in the second half and have lost on game winning field goals both weeks. This was never a team to blow people out, and really most NFL games are not blow outs.

Also, keep in mind that while they may be 0-2 the rest of the division lost last week so they are only one game back of everyone. PIttsburgh has the advantage on them but Pittsburgh will not be good this year. I am not worried about Pittsburgh at all. Cleveland just blew a game worse than the Bengals did against Pitt and Cleveland has to be demoralized. Baltimore also blew a game in similar fashion against the Dolphins. Let's keep that in mind.  There is only 1 bye in the playoffs so chances are the Bengals would not have gotten it. Also, you see how well it served Tennessee last year anyway.  Lets focus on winning the division, one that we are only 1 game back at this point, with no clear divisional favorite.

Have you seen the schedule? From the Bills, Chiefs, Tampa and others. They better snap out of it FAST. We shall see. They cannot lose to the Jets and go 0-3.

They could, but at the end of the day, if you are a contender and are going to challenge for the super bowl you need to beat the best teams.

also the season is young. Those other teams could fall flat or get the injury bug. The dynamics could change a lot by the time the begs play them. Who thought they would beat the Steelers twice last year and the ravens and chiefs when looking at their 2021 schedule. Many did not think they could even beat the raiders and broncos when the early schedule came out. So a lot can change by mod season and if you are going to win it all you have to beat the Buffalos and chiefs anyway

……. only 3.2 percent of 0-3 teams have made NFL playoffs since 1980.

Thats my point.

The season is young but their schedule is only going to get harder. Injury’s can hit other teams just as easy as they could hit the bengals which is why it’s important to win the games that you SHOULD win especially early in the season.

During the national broadcast of the 4th quarter of the Bengals-Browns games, they aired a drone shot of a mile-long freight train headed south on the C&O RR Bridge.  It was a pretty macho image to send out to 10 million people.

So bizarre.  I am guessing we will find out he had some sort of pre-existing heart issue or something.

My first thought was maybe he was playing with a concussion. He's been known as a pretty big hitter. Really sad and scary to see. After the cpr I'm just glad he's still alive.

i saw a sports doc explain this. apparantly there is a millisecond point on your heartbeat where if you are hit in the chest this will definitely happen and its deadly. it has only been seen by a baseball player getting hit with the ball. obviously its very rare and bad luck. i had no idea that could happen. tragic and we hope for his full recovery.

I want to know how those Bengals/Bills fans outside the hospital happened to have candles with them.  I mean, you never know when you're going to happen upon a candlelight vigil worth joining.

Must be a church close by. They give them away for free. Every time I’ve been in one they have boxes of candles lay around, usually just inside the door.

More likely in Ohio or Kentucky, a Dollar General was close by....

Obviously there is a Kroger only a few blocks from the hospital

So glad that we've established that candles are an ordinary, widely available thing.

Er I should say obvious to people familiar with Uptown Cincinnati.
