Lambert played through the 1984 season.

Maybe he was just too much of a veteran at that point to be part of the 'culture' Gastineau introduced as a younger player.

So one of the Browns players said they knew what play was coming from past games the Bengals played. Why didn't the Bengals change plays each game????

Maybe because Dalton is so limited that he can only handle an abbreviated playbook.  He's the honest to god worst.

It was a short week, and the coaching staff is mediocre, at best. The Bengals probably underestimated the Browns, who aren't as completely as shitty of a team this year as they have been in recent memory.

^Nice.  If the members of this board are any indication, they must teach that kind of not-so-subtle underhanded 'smack' in Cincy elementary schools :)  It will take a few weeks, I suppose.  Until then, deep, calm breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth while gently rubbing the pressure points around the earlobes should help.

I'm a bit surprised - I figured the Browns fans would take my remark as a not so subtle compliment, not a smack. It really is saying a lot.

Ok.  I get it.  And I just want to compliment you by saying you aren't as completely as shitty of a poster today as you have been in recent memory.  Don't be mad.  It's a compliment!

Luckily the Saints didn't play defense anywhere near as good as that guy, and the Bengals are back on top of the AFC North for at least a day.

The Saints gave her a ball, but that was a bush league move.

Nice team win after last week's abberation. Everyone looked good.  Jeremy Hill should be the featured back after even when Gio gets back.

Back in first. Browns in last. Their QB will bail on them next season. Everything is in the right place.

The Saints gave her a ball, but that was a bush league move.

I guarantee you it would happen to a Stoolers fan in the Pound, minus the elbow.

ESPN's "Playoff Machine" is up and running. I quickly punched in this without much putting much thought into games outside of the AFC North. I think Cincy and Baltimore can each get to 11 wins, with Cincy edging them out thanks to the tie. The funny thing will be the NFC South potentially putting forth a losing team while plenty of 9-7 teams stay home, a fairly likely scenario at this point.

^ It happened to the Reds during a strike year. Best record in baseball, yet didn't play in the playoffs.

^Indians were 100-44 when the strike of '94 happened.  They had a real shot at the record for wins in a season.

He's talking about the 1980 season.

And Tony Gwynn was batting .394.  :-(

The NBA has it kinda figured out with having the league split into two conferences.  No divisions. So you will really have to earn it even though half the teams make it into the playoffs. The NFL has a lot of things to cover over the off season.

^^^I know

^NBA has divisions.  3 divisions in each conference and each division winner is guaranteed one of the top four seeds.  Your seed determines who you play, but regular season record trumps seeding when it comes to home court advantage.

He's talking about the 1980 season.

Then he would be wrong.  The 1980 Reds finished in 3rd place at 83-79.  The strike was in 1981.

Fantastic!

That tie is going to suck.

Bengals fans, what's the deal with Andy Dalton?

Is there a more Dr. Jekyll QB in the NFL??

He was very ill. IV, throwing up, etc.

I think that half win will help the Bengals. They just have to win 2 of the next 4. The rest would have to go 4-0.

It seems like he can't cope with a mistake. Just like in the Brown's game, he came out of the gate and immediately messed up and then never recovered. When he gets off to a good start, he can ride the momentum through the game, but when he gets off to a bad start he just keeps going downhill.

Interesting, sounds like he needs to adopt that "closers mentality" in baseball...selective bad memory.

At this point, the Bengals get a playoff spot no matter what if they go 3-1 through the next 4 games. Even if the Bengals go 2-2, they get a playoff spot unless someone else in the AFC North does a perfect 4-0. The Bengals have the toughest schedule remaining of all the AFC North teams, though.

Um, what about the Steelers? Denver is better than KC (not by a lot), but that's just one game. They have us twice, we have them twice. They have the Falcons, we have the Browns. Their road is obviously harder.

The Bengals have to play the Browns in Cleveland, after getting spanked in Cincinnati.  The schedules are about a toss-up between you two.

It was just flexed to Fox and finalized for 1:00, so the Browns have no chance in that game.

may have an equally tough schedule given that the Bengals are playing better than them this year, even if the Bengals other opponents are both more challenging.

I think 2-2 is the worst the Bengals will go, and I don't see anyone else going 4-0 down the stretch.

That tie is going to suck.

Disagree completely.  That tie is as good as a win.  With it, the Bengals are essentially two games up on the entire division.  One more win to get the Bengals to 9 wins will mean that everyone else has to go 3-1 in their final four just to pass them. It's going to be a pain for one of those teams to win the same number of games as the Bengals but lose out on a spot purely because of the tie.

Everyone called that tie something that will later haunt ... and it sure looks like it will. Either way, #1 bit#$3z

Game over.

That was ugly. The Bengals still have a slim lead in the division, though. They just have to match the Ravens and/or Steelers record from here on out and they make the playoffs. They can only afford to lose another game if someone else does, too.

Maybe Lewis would rather play against Manziel, and wanted to give the Browns no choice but to start him. How pissed will the fans in Cleveland be if Lewis gets to take a jab at their savior and he doesn’t get a chance to play?

While I hate the Bengals, I heard Lewis' comment, and it was clearly tongue-in-cheek, not like either city is reporting it.  While not good for bulletin board fodder, it was a funny, harmless, comment.  Either way, I hope the Browns can build on it.

Nobody up here views Johnny as our 'savior.'  It is exciting to have him and the national attention is...... well you wouldn't really understand.  But the whole 'savior of the franchise' thingy is more than a bit overblown.  This isn't LeBron and 2003, or even LeBron and 2014.

Either way, if I was Marvin I would keep my space from the sidelines during special teams plays when players sometimes...... ummmmmm...... deviate from their running lanes.  Hell.... his own player taught him that lesson during the whooping the Browns gave them earlier this year.  http://thebiglead.com/2014/11/06/marvin-lewis-got-run-the-eff-over-by-his-own-player-on-a-punt-return/

BTW, that took me the grand total of 30 seconds to compile.

And it's not like Marvin is all that tall. I couldn't find out how tall he was, but he's shorter than his 6-foot-2 QB Andy Dalton, who's only an inch taller than 6-foot-1 Johnny Manziel.....

Why would that "happen" this week?

^^John Manziel is not 6'1", he's under 6'.  That does not bother me though.  Drew Breese has done fine with that.

Well, no KJP, I didn't just repeat stuff without checking first.  I heard it live, then read the Enquirer and Plain Dealer today.  The live comment is clearly tongue-in-cheek while all the reports are he said it as a matter of fact.  All the sites you posted in your 30 seconds are only opinion.  I thought that was acceptable here.  You should read and listen more closely.

Sarcasm is lost on you, isn't it?

Opinion?? Wow...

It's not unheard of that a team wins and is still mathematically eliminated from the playoffs...... but it is rare, especially with two more games after that to play.  If Browns win out they finish 10-6, which is the same record they finished with in 2007 and didn't make the playoffs.  There's a chance, but it is not a certainty, like the certainty that the Bengals will get bent over and spanked again in the first round (if they make the playoffs).

It seems like you thought he was saying it wasn't being reported on, but what he was saying is that the reports did not acknowledge that Lewis's intent was tongue-in-cheek and not a serious insult.

Why did you put 'person' in scare quotes? To imply Bosco4789 is subhuman/not a person?

And it got worse for him from there.

Now the Bengals need to make a point and win on Monday night next week.
