April 17, 200817 yr Houshmandzadeh: It will be problem for Bengals if Johnson not dealt http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3351518
April 17, 200817 yr ^ I agree! For years I talked praise about how CJ wasn't like TO and many others with their on/off field distractions. I said, " Oh, CJ just likes to have fun. What's wrong with that?" I am looking pretty silly now. Yup same here...time to leave Chad. The Cincinnati fans have been good to you this whole time, but this crap doesn't fly.
April 18, 200817 yr Bengals, easily the 2nd most poorly run franchise in the NFL. I'm pretty sure this Chad Johnson shenanigans has more to do with his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, than it does with the Bengals franchise as a whole.
April 18, 200817 yr I'm pretty sure this Chad Johnson shenanigans has more to do with his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, than it does with the Bengals franchise as a whole. Regardless, it's another black eye on the team as a whole, no matter how you spin it!

April 18, 200817 yr Bengals, easily the 2nd most poorly run franchise in the NFL. KStay2, easily the 2nd most lame username on Urban Ohio.

April 18, 200817 yr Bengals, easily the 2nd most poorly run franchise in the NFL. Who's first? I'd say there's a pretty damn good chance that the Bengals actually are the worst run team in the NFL. I hope somehow they can put together a team that at least has a shot at the playoffs this year, but it doesn't look like that is going to be the case...

They made great strides the past 6 years after 14 straight years of losing teams. It's one of the best run to have turn it around like that. Now you can say it's has bad players. Yes. But don't blame the whole front office because of a few bad apples. Daymn this is way over blown. I'm sure ESPN twisted their story to make it look good.

They've had 2 winning seasons since 1990.. and that's INCLUDING 1990.. just because they had one good season that doesn't make them a franchise on the rise. You're telling me with all their off the field problems they're well run?
April 18, 200817 yr If it's off field like you just said. No team has control over it. You are absolutely correct, but no employer has control of their employees outside the workplace. BUT, you can't deny that man Bengals have had far more run-ins with the law than any other NFL franchise.
April 18, 200817 yr Maybe, but didn't the Bengals do something about it. They cut Henry. Chad didn't break any laws. And from what i understand Baltimore has a murderer playing for them. The correct title should be the 2nd most unfortunate team.
April 18, 200817 yr If it's off field like you just said. No team has control over it. Don't they have morality clauses in their contracts?

The correct title should be the 2nd most unfortunate team. I don't want to start any sh*t but they were blatantly drafting guys left and right that were labled as "questionable character" guys. They were highly talented and labled as trouble makers and the bengals took a risk and started gobbling them up... and it blew up in their face.
April 18, 200817 yr ^ Since you know all Bengals players that were drafted. Who was the trouble makers in college? Only one i know of which was Chris Henry.
April 18, 200817 yr ^Well let's see AJ Nicholson was caughting robbing his own teammates in college. O'Dell Thurman, Reggie McNeal, Chris Henry... all notorious pieces of crap in college. Like I said, I don't want to ruffle any feathers but don't play the poor bengals had bad luck card. They created the mess by drafting these guys. Hell most of the time after they were drafted the commentators would talk about how they had loads of talent but questionable character. It was practically the bengals calling card for 2-3 years in the draft. Edit: The Browns avoided this by just drafting players that sucked until a couple years ago.
April 19, 200817 yr ^ I'm sure the Browns would want Chad. Just don't even deny that. Are ANY of them players you mentioned with the Bengals??? NO

Now you can say it's has bad players. Yes. But don't blame the whole front office because of a few bad apples. Daymn this is way over blown. I'm sure ESPN twisted their story to make it look good. I think you said it all...14 years of losing teams! We have the fewest number of scouts of any team in the NFL, we are the northern most city with out an inside practice facility (indoor practices are held at some indoor soccer center that kids teams play at), we draft criminals, Mike Brown has too much pride to hire a Manager, etc...see?
April 19, 200817 yr ^ I'm sure the Browns would want Chad. Just don't even deny that. Are ANY of them players you mentioned with the Bengals??? NO Ughhh. I really don't want to get into this so this is my last post and I am staying out of your thread... I only started checking this out because for years I have thought Chad Johnson was an enormous piece of sh*t and was amazed and how not just in Cincinnatti but nationally people adopted the "that's just chad being chad, isn't he fun" attitude. Chad Johnson cares about Chad Johnson. Period. And I assure you, no one in Cleveland wants that cancerous piece of sh*t on our team. I also commend the Bengals for ridding themselves of a lot of these problem players. But you can't say the "poor bengals were unlucky". The Bengals created this mess, now they are paying for it. And you don't have to be a convicted felon to be a "questionable character" guy. It's a fact... The bengals were taking highly talented, questionalbe character guys. They were able to get "steals" in the draft because most teams wouldn't touch them. It blew up in their face. I actually wish the bengals well because I've always wanted to see the Bengals, Browns, and Steelers all good at the same time, because I think it'd be a lot of fun. I have too many college friends from both cities that I enjoy talking smack with. Never seems to happen though. Anyway, I'm done. Good luck this season.
April 19, 200817 yr Given that the Bengals were torn apart by injuries last year, I don't think it is unreasonable to say they got some bad luck. Remember also when the Steelers won the SuperBowl and they took out Carson Palmer in the first drive? How about Pollack's neck injury that has essentially negated one of the Bengals' higher draft picks over the past few years? It's bad luck, you can't blame the franchise for being plagued by injuries. You can blame them for not having enough scouts, an indoor practice facility, or for drafting some questionable players. But I'm not convinced that this makes them one of the most poorly run franchises in the NFL. You've got Oakland, St. Louis, Miami, Detroit, and Atlanta that are all poorly run.
April 19, 200817 yr Cleveland would take Johnson, Thurman, and Henry (a year ago) in a heartbeat. Don't deny it ... actually you can't, it's impossible to speak on behalf of a multi-million dollar organization that is in business to make money. Lot's of it. I guess my comment is irrelevant too then.
April 20, 200817 yr Given that the Bengals were torn apart by injuries last year, I don't think it is unreasonable to say they got some bad luck. How about Pollack's neck injury that has essentially negated one of the Bengals' higher draft picks over the past few years? But I'm not convinced that this makes them one of the most poorly run franchises in the NFL. You've got Oakland, St. Louis, Miami, Detroit, and Atlanta that are all poorly run. St. Louis has won two Super Bowls and had the "Greatest Show on Turf" for a while, Atlanta has been to a few Super Bowls, Oakland has been to a Superbowl in 2003, Miami just brought in Parcells and had some very good years in the 90's with Marino...Detroit-i'll give you that, they suck. So we're the second worst managed team in the NFL. Can you think of a team that has been more of a laughing stock to sports in recent history? When they're having "good years" (going 500 twice, and having a winning season once) they're laughed at for racking up the arrests. When they're staying out of jail, they're losing 11 games a season. I love the Bengals and consider my self a huge fan, but something has got to change. Seriously, the playoffs ONE TIME in FIFTEEN YEARS?!? Mike Brown has got to go...
April 21, 200817 yr Thurman reinstated BY MARK CURNUTTE | CINCINNATI ENQUIRER April 21, 2008 Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman, after what has amounted to a two-year NFL suspension, learned this afternoon that he has been reinstated by the league, the Bengals announced this afternoon. “Odell has met the NFL’s conditions for reinstatement and has been added to our offseason roster,” Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said in a statement released by the club. “It is now up to Odell to continue to meet all NFL guidelines, and to maintain a standard of personal responsibility that will allow him the chance to compete for a spot on our team.” Thurman missed the past two seasons because of repeated violations of the NFL substance abuse policy.

April 22, 200817 yr Lewis says Chad Johnson should keep his word and sit out 4/22/2008, 12:38 p.m. ET CINCINNATI — Tired of Chad Johnson's posturing for a trade, Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis says the disgruntled receiver should keep his word and sit out the season. Lewis also said Tuesday that linebacker David Pollack is leaning toward retirement. The former first-round draft pick broke a bone in his neck while making a tackle during the 2006 season. April 22, 200817 yr Good. I say keep him, but sit him down. If he was a Jose Guillen (sp?) ... then I'd give him the boot, but until then, just sit him.
April 22, 200817 yr Hopefully they don't have to pay him if he sits out. Don't the players union ever say shut up Chad? lol
April 25, 200817 yr Chad is right, he needs to leave the city. He doesn't represent Cincinnati at all. The Bengals should get another Chris Collinsworth, that is the only thing that will placate the fans. Chad is NOT a bad guy but it simply isn't working out anymore.
April 25, 200817 yr I used to be a big time Chad Johnson defender, but as soon as he started throwing his teammates, coaches, fans, etc under the bus that just rubbed me the wrong way. It reminds me an awful lot of the TO situation in Philadelphia.

The Bengals should get another Chris Collinsworth, that is the only thing that will placate the fans. Chad is NOT a bad guy but it simply isn't working out anymore. I think TJ has potential to be a Chris Collinsworth of sorts. He's humble, hardworking, and a great talent capable of making big plays.
April 26, 200817 yr What are alot of people upset about? If the Bengals can't trade up they can't trade up. So what if a guy goes ahead of us. There are 28 other teams that has their needs too. I hate people the complain. Do nothing but complain. Daymn it's just a sport.
April 26, 200817 yr Its hard not to complain when you are a bengals fan :) lol Unfortunately Ellis went in front of us but we did get Keith Rivers!
May 1, 200817 yr Couldn't resist! I have followed this guy since Alabama. I would love to see him play here. Alexander a Bengal? BY MARK CURNUTTE | [email protected] Shaun Alexander, cut loose by Seattle less than two weeks ago, will be contacting his favorite boyhood team, the Bengals. At least the Bengals will have a chance to talk about it. “Making calls to teams. Bengals are on our list!” Jim Steiner, Alexander's agent, told The Enquirer in an e-mail Wednesday. Coach Marvin Lewis said the team is optimistic that tailbacks Rudi Johnson (hamstring) and Chris Perry (ankle, lower leg) will return to health and the field in 2008. There is depth with Kenny Watson. There is the untapped potential of DeDe Dorsey, who has been a regular during the offseason at the facility. May 2, 200817 yr I'm guessing Brooks: Brooks accused of assault Bengals linebacker faces June court date BY JIM HANNAH | [email protected] BURLINGTON – Bengals linebacker Ahmad Brooks has been accused of punching a Florence woman in the left eye. Brooks, who lives in Union, has been summoned to appear June 6 in Boone District Court to answer to the charge of misdemeanor assault, punishable by up to a year in the jail. Destiny Rosich gave a sworn statement Wednesday that Brooks was arguing outside her neighbor’s home on April 9 in the 7600 block of Banklick Street. She said her children were outside playing and began to cry because Brooks and the neighbor were about to start a fistfight. Brooks told the neighbor that he was going to “split his head open,” Rosich wrote in her statement. That when she “nicely approached” Brooks and asked him to stop and “take it somewhere else,” according to the statement. “He then pulled back his fist and struck (punched) me in the left eye,” Rosich wrote. “I then fell and blacked out.” Full story: http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080501/SPT02/305010073
May 2, 200817 yr Man when are they ever gonna quit getting in trouble. I guess its just another reason for espn to take a crack at us. I'm kinda mixed on Shaun Alexander coming to visit but I dont think he will get signed anyway due to cap reasons and the fact that Marvin is expecting alot from Rudi and Perry this year.
May 3, 200817 yr The bengals are living up to the city nickname.. "Nasti Nati" .. If the bengals want to contend for the division let alone a championship.. they need to lose the greediness (Ochocinco).. <Personally.. I let Chad start the first game.. every play.. and never give him a chance to touch the ball.. then see if he's in a better mood . ha ha> Right now it only looks like they will be competing with the ravens for last place in the division.. Shape up the Ship.!!.
